The shifting sands of self employment can be tricky to manage, mentally. Quite often it feels like just as you finally get things sorted out, something comes along and upends it all

This isn’t one of those self-promotion posts where I say ‘don’t let one of those things be your finances’ in a boomingly cheery voice 😂 (altho don’t, and I can and will help!) 😉

Like all businesses mine has gone through its ups and downs over the years and every time it stabilises something comes along and yanks the rug enough to give me a little wobble

You have to learn to embrace the changes as they come and not panic that it means it’s all over, one door closes but another will inevitably open

On which note I’m delighted to welcome a couple of new working partnerships on board this month, both a bit out of the blue and one of which feels like the universe is delivering to us both just when needed 🧩

Its my wedding anniversary tomorrow. Top tip, get married the Thursday before a bank holiday without realising the implications of it providing a long weekend to celebrate every year 😎

It’s that time of year again, where you’re all receiving letters from HMRC asking that you complete your tax return

Because we’re organised and have good systems in place they are already in hand and I have no doubt we will be speaking soon if we haven’t already

As always your patience is appreciated while I deal with the fun of payroll year end and the added excitement of Making Tax Digital for Income Tax, which starts for some people this month

Day one return to work starting strong, a solid catch up on emails and all the bookkeeping I can get my hands on

I’ve got plans for the next three sets of year end accounts & related tax returns and hope to be well into the thick of them by the middle of next week

I have what feels like a million VAT returns to squeeze in between it all but my post Christmas break game is strong and it all feels achievable

Let the Christmas payroll madness commence 😎

Aiming to close the office on Friday 19th for two weeks, fully expecting to be working until midnight but it will be worth it 🫠

Tax returns are going VERY well and I’m feeling VERY SMUG and VERY PLEASED with you all for being super organised and prompt in answering my questions 🤩

There’s still a few to complete ahead of deadline date at the end of Jan but you’re all in hand and you know who you are, they will be done, it’s all fine, I am NOT WORRIED 😃

As always I will be available by phone and WhatsApp while the office is closed, for any payroll related emergencies

This has been a good year, business wise and personally and as always I’m very grateful to all my clients for their support, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 🎄🥂

Greetings bookkeeping fans

I’m taking a week off from Wednesday lunchtime to go swelter in a Belgian field, listening to heavy metal music and nostalgically remembering my youth, which is not as long ago as it sometimes feels

My emails will not be checked but all payroll will be either done or arranged with you before I go and I have no pressing bookkeeping or tax work because I’ve been SUPER organised 😎

I intend on having an email catch up next Tuesday afternoon before returning to work proper from Wednesday

Just a reminder that we’re now into the new financial year, meaning your tax return for the April 24 to March 25 year can be submitted anytime between now and the end of January, earlier of course always being preferred by your hard working and sometimes hard pressed accountant 🤓

January madness is over once again, happy days 🥂🥂

I’m having a slightly easier week this week and focussing on catching up on all the left over admin / emails and calls I need to deal with before taking my annual February week off next week and heading up to the East Coast with my little pack 🐾🐾

Once back I have a week of office admin and responsibilities towards my license holders (the AAT) to complete and then it’s full steam ahead into the new tax year and what that will bring

My client books are open, if anyone is considering their needs or sees anyone asking, I offer (in no particular order)
•payroll including pension admin
•regular bookkeeping
✅ altho these services are often included with your accountancy fees I will probably provide a saving
✅if you’re doing them yourselves I will cost you money but I will save you SO MUCH TIME that it will feel very worth it 🙌🏼
•VAT returns
•tax returns for sole traders and partnerships including year end accounts

This list isn’t exhaustive and long term followers know my mantra is ‘no job too small’ so feel free to get in touch for a no obligation chat 📞💬📧

At the end of the first week back work at Pinnacle HQ is proceeding at fine pace and last minute returns are being steadily completed

Although I can’t take any new tax clients on at this stage, if you’re already on the train then I’m confident your return will be completed before the deadline 🦸🏽‍♀️

Updates from me have been few and far between recently but let’s all think that no news is good news and not that I’ve just been slack with my socials 👀😂

Work has been steady away, tax returns slowly but surely going out the door and I’ve just finished the Christmas payroll madness, at 6pm on mad Friday so a good two hours earlier than I was expecting. Now to spend the evening wondering what I might have missed 🤔

I’m fully intending on closing the office now for two lovely weeks, returning on the 6th Jan however as always I am contactable by WhatsApp or here
