💼 Claim Tax Relief on Your Work-Related Expenses!

If you spend your own money on work-related costs, you could be entitled to tax relief — even if you’re employed. Many people miss out simply because they don’t realise what qualifies!

You can usually claim for:

✅ Professional fees and subscriptions
✅ Business travel and mileage (excluding your commute)
✅ Tools and equipment
✅ Working from home expenses

These claims might seem small, but they can add up to hundreds of pounds each year.

At KASO Accountants, we help you identify and claim all eligible work-related expenses — so you never pay more tax than you should.

💼 What is Corporation Tax? A Simple Guide for UK Businesses

If you run a limited company in the UK, understanding Corporation Tax is essential. It’s the tax your company pays on profits from trading, investments, and selling assets.

🔹 Who pays Corporation Tax?
All limited companies, as well as some clubs, co-operatives, and unincorporated associations, must pay Corporation Tax on taxable profits.

🔹 Current Corporation Tax Rate (2025):
• 19% for companies with profits under £50,000
• 25% for companies with profits over £250,000
• A marginal relief applies between £50,000 and £250,000 (profits), gradually increasing your effective tax rate

🔹 Key deadlines:
• You must register for Corporation Tax within 3 months of starting to trade
• Your tax return (CT600) is due 12 months after your accounting period ends
• You must pay Corporation Tax within 9 months and 1 day after the end of your accounting period

🔹 What can you deduct before tax?
Allowable business expenses such as:
✔ Salaries
✔ Rent and utilities
✔ Office costs
✔ Business travel
✔ Accountancy fees
✔ Marketing & advertising
✔ Software subscriptions

📌 Top Tip: Keeping accurate and timely records can help you avoid penalties and take advantage of reliefs and deductions.

💡 Trivial Benefits for Limited Company Directors

Did you know your company can give you small gifts tax-free? 🎁

HMRC allows “trivial benefits” up to £50 per gift, as long as:
✅ It’s not cash or a cash voucher
✅ It’s not a reward for work or performance
✅ It’s not part of a salary sacrifice arrangement

For example – a meal out, flowers, or a birthday gift card are all fine! 🌸
If you’re a director of a close company, the total limit is £300 per tax year.
