Full job description
We’re a well-established accountancy firm in Scarborough, looking for a proactive Client Accounts Manager to join our team. You’ll be the go-to contact for clients, helping them from day one and building strong, long-lasting relationships.

What you’ll do

Meet clients and handle day-to-day calls and emails.
Onboard new clients and manage their smooth transition into the firm.
Prepare/review accounts and tax returns for limited companies, sole traders, and partnerships.
Complete bookkeeping and VAT returns.
Supervise and support junior staff.
What we’re looking for

AAT qualified (minimum) with practice experience.
Confident dealing directly with clients.
Skilled in QuickBooks and Xero (essential).
Experience preparing tax returns.
Organised, approachable, and a team player.
What’s on offer

Salary dependent on experience.
Varied client portfolio with plenty of client contact.

As many of you know, we recently shared the very sad news of John’s passing.

His funeral will take place at Woodlands Crematorium on Monday 15th September at 11.00am. There is no dress code, and all who wish to attend are warmly welcome.

Our office will be closed that day.

On behalf of his family and from all of us at J & D, thank you for the many (and I really do mean many) kind words and messages we’ve received.

Yesterday I lost not just a business partner but a best friend — John Suddaby.

For over 10 years we built J & D Accountants together from the ground up. John’s hard work, determination and drive were at the heart of everything we achieved. What we have today wouldn’t exist without him.

John will be deeply missed by me by our team, our clients and of course by his family and loved ones.

Thank you John, for everything — the laughs, the red wine and the memories along the way. Your legacy will always be part of J & D and we will all continue the hard work we started together. ❤️

We are a growing company dedicated to providing exceptional service to our clients. We are seeking an experienced and detail orientated Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in bookkeeping, VAT returns and proficiency with QuickBooks and Xero. The role is full time based at our Scarborough office.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for our clients.
2. Prepare and file VAT returns in a timely manner.
3. Manage accounts payable and receivable ledgers.
4. Reconcile bank statements and financial discrepancies.
5. Collaborate with other team members to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
6. Use accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero)
7. Directly dealing with clients via e-mail and telephone.
Qualifications:
1. Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar role.
2. Proficiency in QuickBooks and Xero is essential as well as use of other accountancy packages.
3. Solid understanding of accounting principles and VAT regulations.
4. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
5. Strong organizational and time-management skills.
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
7. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
