Hannah, a member of our Client Communications Team, spent a day last week volunteering at Pickering Hedgehog Rescue, a local charity dedicated to caring for injured, orphaned and vulnerable hedgehogs across North Yorkshire.

Hedgehog numbers in the UK have declined dramatically over recent decades, falling from an estimated 30 million in the 1950s to around 1 million today. They are now officially classified as vulnerable to extinction, making the work of organisations such as Pickering Hedgehog Rescue more important than ever.

Reflecting on her experience, Hannah said: "Having known about Pickering Hedgehog Rescue from when it first started, it was great having the opportunity to help. It was really interesting learning more about what is involved in caring for these amazing animals and seeing the amount of work involved"

We're incredibly proud of Hannah for giving her time to support such a worthwhile local cause and helping to protect one of Britain's most loved native species.

Vikki recently spent her Volunteering time supporting Carers Plus Yorkshire at the Voices for Carers event held at Newby & Scalby Community Hall.
Around 70 unpaid carers and their families enjoyed a lovely afternoon, with a fantastic performance from Scarborough Community Choir led by Bill Scott, along with refreshments and a raffle raising funds for both organisations.
Carers Plus Yorkshire is a local charity supporting unpaid carers—those looking after loved ones with illness, disability, mental health needs, or addiction.
Vikki chose this charity as a way of giving back for the support they gave her parents when her father was ill 💚

Chloe recently helped out at St Catherine’s Hospice, working in one of their shops as her Volunteering Day.

St Catherine’s provides vital services such as end-of-life care, pain management, and emotional support, as well as help for people coping with the loss of a loved one. They make a significant difference to many people in Scarborough and the surrounding areas.

Chloe chose this opportunity because she wanted to give back to her community and support a charity that carries out such meaningful and important work.

We are pleased to be sponsoring Danny, who, after a lot of training and fundraising, is riding today in the Macmillan Charity Race at York Racecourse.

Danny has shown incredible dedication and commitment in preparing for this event, all in support of Macmillan Cancer Support. The charity does vital work helping people affected by cancer, providing medical, emotional and financial support when it is needed most.

Nick recently completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks raising money for The Sickle Cell Society.

The Sickle Cell Society is the only national charity in the UK that supports and represents people affected by sickle cell disease to improve their overall quality of life. People with the disease produce unusually shaped red blood cells and they can cause problems because the red blood cells do not live as long as healthy blood cells and can block blood vessels. It is a serious and lifelong health condition, although treatment can help manage many of the symptoms.

Tom recently volunteered at the Lively Lunch at St. Luke's Church, which occurs every other Monday. The event unites people from diverse backgrounds, including those facing homelessness, providing a welcoming atmosphere with a three-course meal, hot drinks, and friendly chats. Tom met various people, listening to their stories and spreading kindness while helping to raise funds for Help in Crisis. By the day's end, he felt tired yet thankful, having made a positive impact on around 60 individuals.❤️
