It is with deep sadness that, after careful consideration, our trustees have made the difficult decision to close our organisation.

This was not a decision taken lightly. After exhausting every avenue for continued funding and weighing up our financial position, we have concluded that we cannot responsibly continue to operate.

Over the years, we have been privileged to serve our community — from events and creative projects to the everyday moments of connection that made this all worthwhile. None of that would have been possible without you: our volunteers, partners, funders, and everyone who gave their time, enthusiasm, and support along the way.

To our incredible staff and volunteers, your dedication has meant everything. You gave far more than was ever asked of you, and this community is richer for it.

We will be working through the wind-up process over the coming weeks, and we are committed to doing this responsibly and transparently.

Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for everything. It has been a privilege.

Big Ideas by The Sea is very excited to bring Charanga del Norte to Scarborough!

Leeds-based Charanga del Norte are one of Britain's leading Latin combos and the only authentic charanga and pachanga orchestra. Come along and be blown away by the intricacies and beauty of Charanga, an inimitable cross pollination between African percussion, European classical orchestra and salsero vocal style.

A must for all fans of latin music and those who love live music! Come along, have a cocktail or two, and dance the night away to wonderful latin rhythms!

This gig will take place in Scarborough Market Hall, an amazing venue for music. The Market Hall is a must-visit destination by day for its huge variety of independent shops and stalls. On concert evenings the bar and café are open and you eat, drink and be merry. Get yourselves down there for a great night out!

🎸🌊 A new monthly music and cultural event will be happening in the Community Space at Scarborough Library from Thursday 26th September, from 5.30-6.30pm.

The monthly event is free and everyone is welcome!

This new initiative which will be run on the last Thursday of the month, is to assist with the integration of refugees and others into the local, regional and national community.

Consisting of open mic sessions and workshops/presentations, the organisers are appealing to Scarborough residents to both attend and take part in the activities.

“Co-ordinator Phil Briggs stated “We are really hoping to get ‘locals’ performing with the newer members of the community. It is a realisation of the vital role that the library plays in our area and, hopefully, will help to extinguish some misconceptions about groups of people”.
