How do you keep your financials current?

I work monthly with clients, avoiding the rush of cramming a year’s work into a week. Staying up-to-date is essential. I actively pursue paperwork and organize what I need throughout the month. No more waiting months to address issues. That approach is outdated. I provide management accounts to help clients make informed decisions immediately. Identifying fraud or mistakes is impossible if you delay. Numbers should serve a purpose, not just exist.

Are you worried about saving enough for taxes? It can be tricky, especially if you’re a sole trader or running a limited company. Each has different tax obligations, which can make it hard to give exact numbers.

A simple rule of thumb is to set aside 30% of your income for tax obligations. It might sound like a lot, but think of it as a safety net. Every time money comes in, transfer 30% to a separate savings account. Some banks even let you automate this, making it easier to manage your finances.

You might end up saving more than you need for taxes. That extra can be a cushion for unexpected expenses or even a little treat for yourself later on.

What’s something you’ve achieved that you’re proud of, even if it doesn’t always get noticed? For me, it’s being an AAT MAAT member. You might not know what that means, but it’s significant in the accounting field.

Earning my qualifications as a licensed accountant was more than just passing exams. It reflects the commitment I’ve made to truly understand accounting. This knowledge forms the basis of my work, enabling me to serve my clients well while adhering to all regulations and deadlines.

I want my clients to feel confident, knowing they’re working with someone who understands the details. I’m also pleased to share that I’ve been shortlisted for the AAT Impact 'Rising Star Award.' This recognition reflects the difference I aim to make in my career and for my clients.
