In fact, the only time I’ve worn one in the last 18 years was to a funeral 😅

If you run a limited company, this is something you need to understand 👇

Director and shareholder are NOT the same thing.

A director runs the company.
A shareholder owns the company.

In small businesses, it is often the same person doing both roles. But legally, the responsibilities are completely separate.

This matters because directors carry legal duties and can be personally liable if those duties are not met.

Owning the company does not remove your responsibilities when managing it.
I have written a full blog explaining director obligations clearly and without the legal waffle.
