Introducing Onur, our Semi-Senior Accountant. Onur has a BA (Hons) degree in Accounting & Finance and is currently studying for his ACCA qualification and is hoping to be fully qualified this summer!

Onur joined the VA team in 2025, bringing with him 7 years of valuable experience.

His skill set includes tax and financial compliance, bookkeeping, preparation of year-end accounts and, of course, tax returns!

Who Will Be Affected & When?
HMRC is introducing MTD for Income Tax gradually.

From April 2026
Individuals with combined self-employment and property income above £50,000 will be required to comply.

From April 2027
The threshold reduces to £30,000.

Further expansion to lower income thresholds is expected in future years.

Employers - don’t forget to check your eligibility and claim your employment allowance before paying your first PAYE/NIC bill to HMRC for the new tax year 26-27

You cannot claim if you’re a public body or business doing more than half your work in the public sector (such as local councils and NHS services), unless you’re a charity.

You also cannot claim if your company has just one Director and that Director is the only employee liable for secondary Class 1 National Insurance.

A reminder of the new rules from 6th April. Employers will need to ensure their payroll teams are furnished with absence dates so that correct rates of SSP are processed. Our payroll team at VA have been busy working with our clients to ensure working patterns and policies are up-to-date prior to the deadline.
