Here's an interesting interview with one of St. James's Place UK equity managers. Richard Colwell of Columbia Threadneedle, co-manager of the St. James's Place UK Equity fund, talks about his blended investment approach and how it worked during the last year, and why he thinks we shouldn't be writing off Marks & Spencer just yet.

Plan your shopping trips.

It may sound simple, but it's too easy to 'just pop to the shop' to grab a couple of items for dinner, but how often do you only pick up those items, and how often do a few extras creep into your basket? It's too easy to blow your budget that way without realising as all those little extras mount up.

Instead, plan your shopping trips, perhaps by planning what's for dinner and lunch for the week ahead, taking note of any extras, you might need like birthday cards (or flowers for mum!) and do the shop all in one go.

You'll find it makes a real difference - and will probably mean you'll waste less food too!

In this article, Ajay Krishnan from Wasatch Advisors, manager of the St. James's Place Emerging Markets Equity Fund, discusses the impact of the pandemic on emerging markets and why semiconductors are the new oil.

Where are the risks and opportunities in emerging markets?

Do you mean to save but can never bring yourself to move the money out of your current account? Why not set up a standing order so the payment is automatically made from your account into your savings account?

That way, you never have to think about it, and soon, you'll not even notice apart from seeing the savings balance steadily increasing. You can set up a standing order for each of your savings accounts.
