The clocks went back yesterday. Here's the best way to spend your extra hour.
One hour. Three checks. Potentially thousands of pounds that could otherwise be forgotten or end up with the wrong person.
1. Check your State Pension forecast. It takes a few minutes on GOV.UK and shows what you're on track for and whether there are any gaps in your National Insurance record.
2. Track down old pensions. Changed jobs a few times? The government's free Pension Tracing Service can help you find contact details for old workplace schemes.
3. Check who your pensions would go to. Most pensions don't follow your will. They're usually paid out based on a nomination or "expression of wish" form you may have filled in years ago. If you've married, divorced, had children or lost someone since, it could be out of date.
That third one is the check we see overlooked most often and it's usually a quick fix.
If you find more than you expected, or you're not sure what to do next, Stuart and Iain can help you bring it all together. Book a free initial consultation.
