Could this be you?

You're not the only one. When we first start working with clients, this is typical. They’ve known they should have started planning earlier, and have put it off.

Life and living in the now simply take priority, which is understandable.

But how often have you heard your parents/grandparents say they’d wished they’d done something sooner…

Instead, we carefully select a number of external managers of outstanding ability to manage our range of funds.

This has a number of advantages:

- It gives us the freedom to select first-class managers from the global investment market to manage our funds on behalf of our clients.

- It enables us to change any of these managers at short notice if we have lost confidence in them, that avoids tax consequences or inconvenience to our clients.

- It offers our clients a real opportunity to diversify their investments by spreading their money across funds managed by different managers with different styles.

Picking quality because it's known for generating predictable earnings growth over time regardless of economic conditions is the key.

Boring? Yes, investing in low-volatility, quality funds & stocks might not get your adrenaline pumping, but that shouldn’t be the objective of a long-term investment strategy.

Protecting your downside while compounding your returns, in the long run, should be.

As qualified financial advisers, we offer regulated investments; these are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and are covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS).

The purpose of the FSCS is if things go badly wrong, say an adviser runs off with someone's money or a provider goes into liquidation, then the investor will be compensated by the FSCS.

An unregulated investment may be things like Cryptoassetts (a current hot topic), burial plots, overseas boat mooring, airport car parking spaces, and the list goes on.

As these are not regulated by the FCA or covered by the FSCS, they don't have such a soft landing if they all go wrong.

It's therefore essential to do your homework when considering putting your money in an unregulated investment scheme.

Research highlighted by the FCA in 2019 indicated that 42% of pension savers could be at risk of falling victim to one or more of the common tactics used by pension scammers.

Don't become a stat, do your homework.

One of the most common things that financial advisers are asked by potential clients is: can you pick the next big stock or fund?

Or they may enquire how they should invest a specific lump sum to achieve the best returns.

However, a good financial adviser will always respond to such questions with the words:
“It depends.”

Although getting the investment ‘right’ is important, it is only a small part of the adviser’s role and the value that they bring.

There are five specific ways that advice can deliver financial benefits. Have a read ➡️➡️➡️➡️➡️

A quarter of people who experience loneliness have been the victim of a scam – and the same proportion of older people report feeling lonely at least some of the time.

Not having someone to double-check things with is one of the main causes of these people falling victim to fraudsters.

Scams can include email, mail or phone calls from criminal gangs – but fraud can also come from within families, as well as occurring when lonely people use fraudsters as their only contact with the world -

Whenever you invest your money, you are always taking on an element of risk.

For example, there is always a risk that an investment won’t perform as you’d like, and you will get back less than you put in.

So that's why it's important to understand how to minimise risk as an investment belief. Something that may be important for many to think about as we currently face a turbulent time in the markets.

Read on below.

For example, there is always a risk that an investment won’t perform as you’d like, and you will get back less than you put in (sometimes known as price risk). In the case of fixed income, the bond issuer could default. There is also always a risk that you won’t be able to access the money in ...
