What makes a great adviser? It’s not just the strategies or products—it’s being honest, even when it’s tough.

Sometimes the most valuable thing I do is say “no” or help someone reframe their expectations. Not everything can be solved with a shiny tax strategy or a new investment idea. Real change often means changing behaviour—and that’s the hardest part.

The real value? It’s the coaching, the honesty, the big-picture thinking, and the ability to challenge what’s not working. It’s not sexy, it doesn’t always sell, but it’s what actually makes the difference.

Like a PT, if you skip half the sessions, you don’t get results. Financial planning is no different.

If you're at a crossroads, unsure of your next move, or just want to do better—DMs are open. Let’s talk 👋

It’s not just about numbers — it’s about the difference it makes in real lives.

☝️ That’s what it’s all about.

Helping people feel confident, clear, and in control of their future.

Let’s be real — “pension” sounds boring.
But what if we called it your freedom pot?

It’s not about retiring at 70.
It’s about buying choices from much earlier in life:
✨ Walk away from burnout.
🌍 Tick off those bucket list trips
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Care for loved ones without the stress.
🎨 Build, create, explore — on your terms.

The earlier you feed it, the more freedom you buy.

It’s not boring.
It’s power.
It’s peace of mind.
It’s a “yes” to your future.

Start filling your freedom pot.

Time to start again.

Not completely new.

Not completely the same either.

Whether it is a financial, business or life plan, there will always be set backs or things that side swipe you completely.

Being prepared, have the right provisions and fall backs in place and the ability to bounce and go again is the only thing you can really control.

With more knowledge, a better approach.

The last year has taught me a lot and I am a better adviser for it.

Fully independent and now open for business. Click my bio to book in a call if you want to catch up.

I won't be posting everyday like the algorithm would like, this page also isn't going to just be pension tips going forward it is going to be more holistic, if you want to see this content I suggest "favouriting" the page, so it shows on your feed.

So this years crazy/stupid idea for charity for myself, , & Chris Enfield are taking on 'Race the Sun' in Brecon in aid of Action Medical Research, who fund vital research to help sick and disabled babies, children and young people.

The race consists of:
🚴‍♂️ 35 mile cycle
🥾 8 mile hike up and down Pen-Y-Fan
🛶 2 mile canoe

All in one hit.

It’s a great charity and a great cause. So any spare change you can put forward would be much appreciated to hit our team target of £2000 raised.

Cost of living crisis currently, now fast forward that 20, 30 even 40 years to Retirement or some hope of a retirement?

Will you ever retire?

Will the state pension exist?

These are all questions I have actually been asked.

The truth is this is all in YOUR control. There are no external influences that will make these decisions for you. Sure, a state pension being in existence and continuing to be in the triple lock of increasing with inflation would be a massive help to your retirement plans but equally not defining.

Since pension freedoms in 2015 pension saving and retirement is extremely flexible and is very much a personal choice.

I say retirement, the new age way of phrasing this is financially independent or not having to work for money i.e. Having complete freedom and choice over how you spend your time. Many of my clients still work but only on specific roles or projects not out of necessity to pay the bills.

So how do you take action, just start is the best advice, the best time to start was yesterday so just don't procrastinate no matter how small a contribution that is affordable to you just start.

A recent study from Loughborough University and the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association shows that for a "comfortable" retirement a fund of £530,000 for an individual is needed, link to article in my bio.

With the power of compounding what you might need to save a month may be lower than you think to achieve this goal and secure your future.

Mortgage News!

For a long time, 100% LTV Mortgages have not been available with a combination of rising property prices and a cost of living crisis. For first-time buyers saving up that first deposit has been a huge challenge.

With rent also on the rise this new product released from Skipton Building Society could really be a good option for some people out there.

Although the rate is not hugely competitive vs say 90 or 95% LTV mortgages I think the ability to get on the ladder and also I am sure for many households the rent they are currently paying plus the savings balance as they attempt to build towards that deposit needed overall this may actually still be cheaper on a monthly basis.

Food for thought and DMs open for questions.

Please share and forward on to any first-time buyers as this may either increase the budget for first-time buyers with small deposits (i.e. Less than 5%) or may bring the timeline forward for those currently stuck renting as rental prices continue to also rise.

2021... Reflection and appreciation...

First of all THANK YOU to every single person, who has engaged with this page in some way since the start. Likes, shares, comments and most importantly the DM's are awesome, I love hearing from you all, with any query you have even when there was a period that they were nearly all related!

For a small business owner who put himself out there early this year, every single engagement genuinely means so much, the feedback has been awesome and I am just so glad that people are taking stuff away from the page they potentially didn't know before and I am able to use this platform to bring the relatively boring topic of finance to the forefront in hopefully an engaging way.

There have genuinely been some fantastic connections made through this page and it has allowed me to connect with so many people, some who previously I didn't know and are not now only clients of mine but friends.

This year has been MENTAL for me personally. Becoming self employed to follow a passion, to apply a skillset I had procured from a previous career to help people and business owners with their personal and business finances. I had no idea how it would go. However I knew if I could make a difference to people it would be worth it and it has been a hugely rewarding journey that I can't wait to continue.

Have I achieved everything I want to this year... Absolutely not but I have got pretty close!

But many overestimate what they can do in a year but underestimate what they can do in 10... Enjoy the journey and stay consistent.

Lets see what ludicrous analogies I can come up with in 2022 to try and bring finance to life!

28/12/2021

The back end of this year has for many been a case of getting back to some sort of normality following what was a tough year in 2020 for just about everyone in a different way!

As we move into 2022, the more conversations with people I have, there seems to be a real positivity and return to normality and people are planning, getting longer term goals back on track or executing on the shorter term goals that may have been held up previously due to things no one could control.

Now with some down time between Christmas and New Year...

What does 2022 look like for you?

What are you building towards?

What is important to you in your life?

Equally what does this cost or impact you financially?

For some it is just sorting their finances out, having a long term plan and knowing where they are heading... Because without this and worrying month to month or lacking structure in this area costs way more than money it costs TIME and ENERGY. Both are priceless commodities.

For others it might be a new home, a trip abroad to see family, planning for kids (had a lot of these calls after ) but something that has a price tag but is an important part of your life that you want to be fully prepared for.

You might be a business owner that is now through the storm of covid and want to start thinking about business growth, tax efficient profit extraction or making sure your business is protected in regards to the key people within your organisation.

Equally it may be as you prepare for retirement on the horizon and want to make sure your nest egg will last you and that your legacy planning is all in order to give you that peace of mind so you can enjoy winding down as you focus on new projects.

If you want to bounce any of these subjects off of someone who does this for a living please reach out and let's have a chat!

If we have had one of these chats in 2021 and it helped you and your family, consider sending this post to someone else who you think might benefit from the same experience.

However most people's Christmas' do include wine and/or cheese so I suppose it would of been difficult to even try and enforce due to the

Happy Christmas everyone.

I look forward to sharing more and more with you all as we head into 2022 and I hope you have a wonderful day spent with your friends, family and close relatives.
