𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐚𝐱 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐓𝐚𝐱 – 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐨 𝐧𝐨𝐰

If you get income from self-employment and/or property, you’ll legally need to use Making Tax Digital (MTD) for Income Tax from the following dates:

• 6‌‌‌ April‌‌‌ 2026, if your turnover is over £50,000 in the 2024 to 2025‌‌‌ tax year
• 6‌‌‌ April‌‌‌ 2027, if your turnover is over £30,000 in the 2025 to 2026‌‌‌ tax year
• 6‌‌‌ April‌‌‌ 2028, if your turnover is over £20,000 in the 2026 to 2027‌‌‌ tax year

From April 2026 HMRC has introduced new rules.
Self-employed individuals and landlords earning £50,000 or more will now have to comply with MTD ITSA.

This means you’ll need to:
✔ Submit quarterly updates
✔ Use compliant software
✔ File a final annual declaration
