On Friday 6th July the Government released legislation for the next Finance Act, we reflect on some of the more interesting measures below:

The Government said From 1 April 2020, for Corporation Tax purposes, followed by income tax self-assessment from an unspecified date, there will be a points based penalty system rather than the current £100 late filing etc. system - if a taxpayer misses a deadline, a penalty point will be given; points add up until a penalty threshold is met, after which a financial penalty is incurred.

On Friday 6th July the Government released legislation for the next Finance Act, we reflect on some of the more interesting measures below:

The Government said: From 6 April 2019, anyone who sees their interest in a company reduce below 5% (as a result of a dilution/investment) can make two elections which effectively allows them to bank the 10% Entrepreneurs Relief rate on capital growth to date.

We said: A welcome relief change.

The Government said: From April 2020, anyone who disposes of UK residential property at a gain will have to file a Tax Return within 30 days and pay across any tax due to HMRC at the same time.
