Accountants aren’t exactly known for their vibes.

We’re trying to change that.

The numbers matter.
The deadlines matter.
The compliance definitely matters.

But so do the people behind the business.

Life’s too short for awkward meetings, confusing jargon, and feeling stressed every time you speak to your accountant.

We like good conversations, big ideas, plenty of laughs, and helping good people build great businesses.

Turns out accounting and good vibes can coexist after all.

You know when you’re driving down the motorway and another driver flashes their lights at you?

Not because you’ve done anything wrong.

Just a little heads up that there’s a speed camera coming up.

A small warning from someone who didn’t have to help… but did anyway.

(For the record, we know nobody here speeds. Ever. 👀)

It got us thinking about business. The best advice isn’t always the big dramatic stuff.

Sometimes it’s the quick message that says:

“Just so you’re aware…”

“Don’t forget this deadline.”

“You might want to look at this.”

“HMRC have changed something.”

“There’s a better way to do that.”

That’s how we like to work with our clients.

Not constantly in your inbox.

Not making things more complicated than they need to be.

Just being there with the occasional flash of the headlights when something important is coming up.

A little warning.
A useful nudge.
A heads up from someone who’s on your side.

We’re not taking on new clients right now, but if you’d like to join the waitlist, send us a DM with the word FLASH and we’ll add you to it.

When the bank holiday’s over, the inbox is overflowing… but you still need to keep up with the trends ☀️💃

We wanted to take a moment to introduce Kerry, one of our accountants.

When we asked her what she does day to day, she didn't lead with credentials or services. She talked about being available. About picking up the phone when a client is confused about a transaction, or stressed about their VAT, or just needs someone to walk them through what's going on with their finances in plain English.

That says a lot about who Kerry is.

She handles the full range - bookkeeping, self-assessment, tax returns - but what stands out is how she handles the people behind all of it.

Clients know they can reach out at any point in the year and get a straight, patient answer. No drama. Just someone who genuinely wants to help them understand.

We're glad she's on our team.

Mileage rates are finally moving… and it’s only taken around 15 years 🚗

If you use your own vehicle for business travel, the approved mileage allowance for the first 10,000 miles is increasing from 45p to 55p per mile.

The change was announced today by Chancellor Rachel Reeves and will be backdated to April 2026.

For business owners, directors, mobile teams and anyone regularly travelling between sites, clients or meetings, that extra 10p per mile could add up quickly over the course of a year.

Business owners… we finally got a tax update that doesn’t feel like a punishment 🙌

If you’re self-employed or a landlord with turnover above £50,000 in the 2024/25 tax year, there’s a strong chance you’re already in the first wave of Making Tax Digital. Which means digital record keeping and quarterly submissions are no longer optional.

Your first submission for 2026/27 is due by 7 August 2026.

If that deadline has suddenly become very real… now is the time to get sorted.

For those below the £50,000 threshold, this probably isn’t your year. But if your qualifying income exceeds £30,000 in 2025/26, you’ll likely be brought into MTD from April 2027.

One thing we keep hearing:

“So does this mean paying tax four times a year?”

No.

You’re reporting more frequently, not paying tax four times a year. The biggest shift is the move towards better systems, cleaner records, and more consistent bookkeeping throughout the year.

Like most things in business, it’s far easier when the systems are right from the start.

We know the feeling.

You buy the car. Sign up for the software. Order the equipment. Convince yourself the top-of-the-range coffee machine is absolutely vital for productivity.

Then comes the message: “Can I put this through the business?”

Sometimes yes. Sometimes partly. Sometimes… absolutely not.

The problem is, once the money’s already gone, your options become a lot more limited.

A five minute conversation beforehand can save a lot of confusion, unexpected tax bills, and disappointment later on.

Your accountant isn’t there to ruin the fun. We just prefer being part of the decision before the receipt arrives attached to an email that says: “I’ve already bought it now anyway” 🙃

We thought we do the “who’s most likely to” trend…

Spoiler alert, it was a complete fail 😅

A really good day at Accountex today 👏

Some of us from the GTA team spent the day listening to brilliant talks, exploring new software, and learning more about the future of accounting and business support.

There’s so much innovation happening in the industry right now, and days like today are a reminder of how important it is to keep learning, evolving, and finding better ways to support our clients.

We’ve come away with loads of ideas, new tools to explore, and some genuinely exciting things we’re planning to implement when we’re back in the office.

A huge thank you to everyone we spoke with today. We’ve had a great time, learned a lot, and we’re excited to roll our sleeves up and keep improving the way we support the businesses we work with 🙌

A little update from us…

Due to an incredibly busy few months we’re going to temporarily pause taking on any further work while we catch up properly and make sure we continue giving our existing clients the level of service they deserve.

This is only a short-term pause, and we’ll be reviewing things again in mid-June.

We honestly can’t thank people enough for the support, referrals, recommendations and messages lately. It genuinely means the world to us.

If you were hoping to work with us, please don’t disappear! Drop us a DM and we’ll happily add you to the waiting list so we can reach out as soon as spaces reopen.
