Part-Time Bookkeeping & Payroll Support for an ICB Practice
Location: Market Deeping, near Peterborough

Hours: 8 per week initially with scope to increase (days/times to be agreed)
Salary: £15 an hour

Position Overview:
We’re expanding and looking for an experienced, flexible and personable bookkeeper to join our team. This is an office-based role in Market Deeping, ideal for someone who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and has a strong attention to detail.
Responsibilities Across Multiple Entities:
• Recording and analysing daily financial transactions, including purchase and sales ledgers
• Posting invoices via Apron, or directly within Xero, QuickBooks or FreeAgent
• Managing credit control processes to ensure timely payments
• Performing bank reconciliations and resolving discrepancies
• Preparing and posting month-end journals tailored to each client’s requirements
• Maintaining fixed asset registers and associated provision schedules
• Handling queries related to HMRC and Companies House
• Processing weekly and monthly payrolls for clients
• Administering auto enrolment and liaising with pension providers
• Preparing VAT returns using accounting software
• Building strong, long-term relationships with clients
• Supporting with ad hoc tasks as needed
Key Skills and Requirements:
• Demonstrated experience in bookkeeping
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, including accounts payable and receivable
• Proven ability to manage journals and financial records accurately
• Excellent data entry skills with a high level of precision
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities
• Experience using accounting software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, FreeAgent)
• Knowledge of Excel
• Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and perform under pressure
• A detail-orientated mindset with a focus on accuracy and completion
• A proactive and collaborative approach to working within a busy team
• Previous experience as an Accounts Assistant in a practice environment is preferred but not essential
