A lot of growing businesses are struggling because too much operational responsibility still sits with senior people.
The business doubles in size…
but the founder is still:
* signing up to portals
* chasing missing information
* managing finance inboxes
* following up overdue items
* clearing the admin nobody else owns
At that point, the issue is that the business has become dependent on a few key people to keep everything moving.
Everything becomes slightly delayed.
Slightly reactive.
Slightly heavier than it needs to be.
I hear things like:
“we just haven’t got time”
“I’m the single point of failure”
“we’re trying to add more structure”
And usually, the real need is not more strategy.
It is operational support that removes friction from the finance function and creates capacity again.
Especially in fast-moving businesses where systems, reporting, client requests, inboxes, reconciliations and follow-ups are all happening at once.
