A massive shoutout and good luck to our very own Amy, who is taking on the 68 mile walk from Westward Ho! to Paignton alongside the lads from K.F. Bartlett Ltd — Josh, Brian, Paul and Steve — all in support of The Devon Clinic. Today is the day they begin this mammoth journey. Imagine walking 100km across Devon in just 24 hours. What an incredible challenge for a brilliant cause. 👏

We also want to say a huge thank you to Neal at Simple Car Hire, who has very kindly sorted the team with a free rental vehicle to help get them to the starting point. An amazing gesture and a proper bit of community spirit.

Happy Monday everyone! ☀️

We hope you all had a great weekend.

Apparently, an unexpected photo has resurfaced of Leah and Amy with a miniature horse inside the office. It's actually a lovely image, and we're not entirely sure why the girls have said... and we quote...

"Do not release this image on pain of death." 😳😂

So, naturally, we've decided it's probably best not to release it.
The image has officially been banned from public viewing.

So, over to you...What did you get up to this weekend?

🚨 The Bank Holiday is over… which means we all need a little fun getting back into work mode 😅
(Well… those of us that actually had the time off 👀)

So here’s this week’s office debate…

Does a straw have one hole… or two? 🥤
👍 One hole
❤️ Two holes

Mathematically (Topology): A straw is considered to have 1 hole. Topologists view it similarly to a ring or a doughnut—it’s a single cylinder with an empty space running through it.

Everyday Logic: It has 2 holes—an entry hole at the top and an exit hole at the bottom. If you plug either end, liquid stops flowing

No Googling. No essays. Just vibes and arguments 😂👇

At this point these debates are raising more questions than answers 😅

🚗 BUSINESS MILEAGE ALLOWANCE INCREASED 🚗

After being frozen since 2011, the tax-free mileage allowance for employees using their own car for work is increasing from 45p to 55p per mile for the first 10,000 business miles — and it’s being backdated to April 2026.

This could make a real difference for:

✅ Care workers
✅ Sales reps
✅ Tradespeople
✅ Mobile staff
✅ Small business owners using personal vehicles for work

A lot of people don’t realise this either…

👉 If your employer pays LESS than the approved mileage rate, you may be able to claim tax relief on the difference through HMRC.

With fuel, insurance, servicing and general running costs all increasing over recent years, this is a welcome update for working people and businesses alike.

If you're unsure how this affects your business, payroll, expenses, or personal tax position, it may be worth reviewing your mileage policy sooner rather than later.
