Another great event attended last week at Connect Educate & Collaborate (Shropshire), hosted by Shirley Lane.

A particularly entertaining and insightful HR talk was delivered by Richard Berry of 4HR Solutions, featuring a scenario role play based around an employment dispute at a hair salon, which definitely explained the wigs!

It was fantastic to make new connections with Ray Smith and Antony Taylor, as well as catch up with Kim Goode, Benjamin Botfield, Shai Patel, James Burrows and Steven Edwards.

A great morning at the Professional Connections event at the Mercure Hotels Telford on Friday, hosted by the Shropshire Chamber alongside Paul Bennett of Bennett Briegal LLP.

Paul delivered a really interesting and informative talk on “The Impact of AI on Professional Services”, including the thought-provoking idea of viewing AI as an “alien co-worker”, highlighting that AI doesn’t think like humans, but instead predicts outcomes based on data probability.

It was also fantastic to meet and catch up with fellow professionals, including Rachel Schofield, Nikki Hall, Mike Minton, Stacey Pugh and Tom Davies.

It was great to attend the GROW: On Tour seminar in Warrington yesterday, hosted by Verve, alongside insightful presentations from Aspen, Morningstar, Marloo and M&G.

The event covered a range of important topics including assessing risk in financial planning, inheritance tax planning, and the growing role of AI within the industry. One key takeaway was the importance of maintaining a human-first approach to AI in financial advice, something we completely agree with at Una Vita Financial Planning.

A brilliant opportunity to learn, reflect and connect with others across the sector, including James Street, Millie O'Brien, Nicholas Woolbank, Chris Kane, Lucy Wrigley, Darren Lowry and Chris Young.

It was lovely to recently take a trip to London with Amy while she took part in an event at The Clinical Pharmacy Congress.

We took the opportunity to visit the V&A, where I was particularly taken with the Gentleman’s travelling accessories collection, although I’m not sure I’d get away with carrying a pocket flintlock pistol these days.

It was also great to catch up with my brother and Grand Niece for lunch, enjoy a walk through Hyde Park, spend some time on the South Bank in the sunshine, and later seek a little wisdom from Sherlock himself.

A busy but thoroughly enjoyable few days in the capital.
