Pension Obligations
1. Auto-Enrolment Compliance
ï‚· Ensure eligible employees are enrolled in a workplace pension scheme. Assess employee eligibility based on earnings and age. Provide statutory communication to employees regarding pension enrolment.
2. Pension Contribution Calculations
ï‚· Calculate employer and employee contributions based on salary. Deduct correct pension contributions from employees' wages. Apply appropriate tax relief on pension contributions.
3. Submission & Payments
ï‚· Submit pension contributions to the provider on time. Reconcile pension payments and ensure accuracy. Maintain records of contributions and deductions.
4. Re-Enrolment & Opt-Out Management
ï‚· Manage employees who opt out of the pension scheme. Process re-enrolment of eligible employees every three years. Ensure compliance with re-enrolment duties and reissue statutory communications.
5. Reporting & Compliance
ï‚· Submit pension reports to HMRC and the pension provider.
ï‚· Ensure compliance with The Pensions Regulator (TPR) requirements.
ï‚· Keep up-to-date with pension legislation changes.
CIS
ï‚· 1. CIS Registration & Compliance
o Ensure the business is registered for CIS with HMRC (as a contractor and/or subcontractor). Verify subcontractors with HMRC before making payments. Maintain records of CIS registration details for all subcontractors.
ï‚· 2. Deduction & Payment Handling
o Deduct CIS tax (20% for registered subcontractors, 30% for unregistered ones). Keep records of deductions made from subcontractor payments. Ensure the correct amount is paid to HMRC by the 19th of each month.
ï‚· 3. CIS Returns & Reporting
o Submit monthly CIS returns to HMRC by the 19th of each month. Provide CIS deduction statements to subcontractors. Check for any missing CIS submissions to avoid penalties.
ï‚· 4. Record-Keeping & Compliance
o Maintain accurate records of payments, deductions, and subcontractor details for at least 3 years. Ensure compliance with CIS reporting rules to avoid penalties. Keep payroll and bookkeeping software updated with CIS deductions.
 5. Employer’s CIS Obligations (If Applicable)
o If the company is also a subcontractor, reclaim CIS deductions through the payroll system. Ensure correct tax treatment for payments received under CIS.
