What exactly is HM Land Registry?

The Land Registry is a government department that holds records of property titles registered in England and Wales.

It holds details such as the date the current owner was registered as the owner, the property address, whether the property is freehold or leasehold and other information relating to the property title.

You can search HM Land Registry for property ownership details, title deeds as well as searching for house prices.

There's been a lot of talk about a recession. But what exactly is a recession?

When a country is running smoothly, the value of the goods and services it produces – its gross domestic product – grows.

But during times of an economic downturn, this value falls. A recession is when GDP drops for two three-month periods in a row, and is a sign that the economy is weakening.

People often think that there are right and wrong answers to every question; that everything is black or white.

Whilst true in some instances, when it comes to planning ahead to buy a home, making the most of your savings and thinking towards your retirement, there are lots of things to take into consideration.

That's why you'll often hear me say "It depends."

I've always preferred to look at the bigger picture and to discuss all the different aspects of what you might need in the future. "What if things go wrong" but also "what if things go better than you expect?"

Making an informed decision isn't just about gathering facts and figures. It's about really examining what you want out of life and finding the best way to achieve it.

Corporation Tax is paid by UK Limited companies & it's based on the annual profits that the business makes.

All profits, after expenses, are taxable.

Sole traders and partnerships don't pay Corporation Tax.

The Corporation Tax main rate is currently 19%. However, from 1 April 2023, it will rise to 25% if your company profits are over £250,000. If your company profits are less than £50,000, it remains set at 19%.
