Meet the Team: Paul Brown
Over the next few weeks, we're going to introduce the people behind Hallett Brown.
We've welcomed several new team members over the last 16 months and, whilst many of you know us by name, we thought it would be nice to share a little more about the people you'll find on the end of the phone, in meetings and behind the emails.
First up... Paul Brown.
Paul has worked in accountancy since the age of 18, gaining experience across a number of firms before becoming Director of Hallett Brown in 2025 following the restructuring of Hallett & Associates.
Prior to that, he had been exploring the idea of practice ownership when he was introduced to the late John Hallett, who was looking to sell the firm he had built over many years. The more they spoke, the clearer it became that they shared similar values around client care, relationships, and doing the right thing for people.
What stood out to Paul about John was how down-to-earth he was. A fellow cricket fan, yes, but more importantly someone who genuinely cared about his clients and always looked out for them.
That philosophy remains at the heart of Hallett Brown today.
Paul works with clients across a wide range of industries and business structures, with particular interests in owner-managed businesses, farming families, property, inheritance tax and succession planning.
Whilst accounts and tax returns are important, he believes the real value comes from helping people make better decisions.
His goal is simple:
To be the first person a client calls before making a major business decision.
One thing clients quickly learn is that Paul rarely dismisses a question. Whether it's tax, growth plans, succession, a business opportunity or something completely unexpected, he'll always look into it. There is often an opportunity, solution or introduction that can help.
Away from work, Paul is married to Laura, and together they have two children, Teddy and Maeve. He's a keen supporter of Northampton Saints, Tottenham Hotspur and Northamptonshire County Cricket Club and enjoys getting out for walks with the family dog.
