Did you know bookkeepers have a patron saint? Today is the feast day of Matthew the Apostle.

Matthew was a tax collector, not a popular profession then either. His work involving collecting and accounting for money, makes him a patron saint for financial professionals, for those who keep records and manage resources, i.e. bookkeepers.

Matthew the Apostle[a] was one of the twelve apostles of Jesus. According to Christian traditions, he was also one of the four Evangelists as author of the Gospel of Matthew, and thus is also known as Matthew the Evangelist.
