The UK Budget was read on 26/11/2025. Here is what will effect our clients:

1. The headline rates of Income Tax (20%-45%), Corporation Tax (19%-25%) and CGT (18%-24%) remain the same.

2. The Freeze on the personal tax thresholds (Income Tax & NIC) will continue until April 2031. This creates a "fiscal drag" meaning more of your income will be taxed at higher rates due to inflationary income and salary increases.

3. There are higher rates of tax applied to Dividends (which will affect company directors) (10.75%, 35.75% and 39.35%), a 2% tax increase on savings income (interest earned) and a 2% tax increase on income from property (such as rental income).

4. Reductions in Capital Allowances for both Companies and Self-Employed Businesses when they purchase assets.

5. Increases in Minimum Wages from 01/04/2026. £12.71 (Over 21), £10.85 (18-20), £8.00 (16-17) and £8.00 (First Year Apprentices or Apprentices under 19).

DAERA has launched the 2024 Rural Business Development Grant Scheme, which will deliver £1.55million in capital grants to support rural micro businesses across Northern Ireland.

The RBDGS can provide funding of up to 50% of costs for capital items up to a maximum of £4,999 and is available to existing micro enterprises based in rural areas of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council.
