The Heron House Team are taking part in the South Wales 3 Peaks Trail charity walk on Saturday, 28th March 2026 and all funds raised will go towards Gwent Wildlife Trust which will help restore wildlife and nature across Gwent.

Our Team will be split into two groups and will cover a 10–15-mile circular walk starting off in Abergavenny over the Blorenge and Sugar Loaf mountains.

This milestone reflects our commitment to using our business as a force for good. We’re focused on doing good while doing well - making a positive impact on people and the environment, and staying open, honest, and responsible in everything we do.

Today is EO Day, so we are proudly sharing our , the EO theme for this year, which perfectly represents the positive impact employee ownership has on employees, business, the wider economy, communities and the environment, basically everything that we are about!

Later this year we will be celebrating 5 years of employee ownership, and we will be using our anniversary to reflect on the last 5 years and look forward to the next 5 and beyond.

We have learnt a lot along the way but overall employee ownership has done nothing but good for Heron House, and we are proud to fly the EO flag and spread the word.

We hope other EO businesses are enjoying their celebrations!

Heron House is 30! 🎉

This week marks 30 years since Saran founded Heron House.

A huge thank you to all of our clients, old and new, for your business and support. We’ve spent some time reflecting on the past 30 years, and are delighted that over a quarter of our clients have been with us for over 20 years, and a fair few since the very start. It is an absolute privilege to have such close long term relationships with so many of you, and thanks to lots of your kind introductions, also with your family and friends.

We enjoyed celebrating with a team lunch earlier in the week and welcomed our newest recruit, Hector the Heron (pictured with Saran and Chris, and the team), who will take pride of place in the office wildlife garden, overlooking the pond.

This isn’t the only thing we are celebrating at the moment, however, as we recently received the news that we have become one of 2,000 UK Certified B Corporations. B Corp companies apply for this prestigious status, and are scrutinised and verified by B Lab as meeting the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. We are one of just a small handful of financial planners who have B Corp status, and we hope it shows that we practice what we preach in terms of working to benefit the world beyond our office walls.

We are really excited for what the future holds for Heron House, with its long term future secured under our Employee Ownership Trust. We have three new graduates on board who have seamlessly joined our already excellent team, so it really is onwards and upwards.

Now it’s all about growing and becoming better!

Today marks the UK Employee Ownership Day (EO Day), run by the The eoa. EO Day was introduced to raise awareness of employee ownership as a better way of doing business and is now in its 12th year!

Research shows that employee ownership benefits include improving employee health and wellbeing, increasing productivity and fostering creativity and innovation across an array of industry sectors.

We have been employee owned since September 2020 and we wholeheartedly agree! We are delighted that the scale of the employee ownership sector has grown so much in recent years and that UK employee-owned companies contribute over £30 billion to the UK economy annually. !

We are incredibly proud of Tom, from our Technical Support Team, who recently completed the London Marathon.

Tom raised over £4,000 for Alzheimer's Research UK, which is a brilliant achievement.

Tom says:

‘’I chose to run the London Marathon this year because my Mum was sadly diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in April 2023. I thought this would be a great reason to raise funds for an important charity whilst also taking part in such a famous event. It was amazing day, and the support and atmosphere got me to the finish line… eventually!”

We have some exciting news…

Last night we were named BEST ADVICE FIRM IN WALES for 2024!

Wow! Thank you so much Citywire! Given the usual strong competition, it was an honour to be shortlisted, but we are thrilled to have won this award for the TENTH time! Thanks as always goes to our wonderful and dedicated team of 20, and to each and every one of our clients.

We love that awards like this exist; they not only promote the important world of financial planning, but they take into consideration businesses as a whole - from client satisfaction and charging structures, to how we contribute to the wider community and continue to develop as a business. It means a lot to be recognised for everything that we work hard for, and most importantly, for what we do to ensure we always deliver the best outcomes for our clients.
