Today the word of the day is Bull Market. Let's explore what this means.

A bull market is a market that is on the rise and where the conditions of the economy are generally favourable.

A bull market is typified by a sustained increase in prices. In the case of equity markets, a bull market denotes a rise in the prices of companies' shares. In such times, investors often have faith that the uptrend will continue over the long term. In this scenario, the country's economy is typically strong and employment levels are high.

In the investing world, the terms "bull" and "bear" are frequently used to refer to market conditions. These terms describe how stock markets are doing in general—that is, whether they are appreciating or depreciating in value. A bull market is a market that is on the rise and where the economy is sound; while a bear market exists in an economy that is receding, where most stocks are declining in value.

Speculation over the timing of interest rate cuts has been dominating global markets this year. Last week was no different, as investors continued to guess when policymakers will feel they’ve brought inflation under control.

So, all eyes were on US Federal Reserve Chair, Jerome Powell, as he gave his two-day testimony to Congress. Whilst stressing that he didn’t want to send any signals about the timing of future interest rate moves, Powell told lawmakers that the US was “no longer an overheated economy”, with a job market that “appears to be fully back in balance”.
