🔥 You are NOT alone.

These are the 5 questions we get asked every. single. day — and honestly? They never get old, because they matter.

💬 “How do I start a business?”
💬 “What taxes apply to me?”
💬 “Do I need to register for CIS?”
💬 “What does VAT actually mean for my business?”
💬 “What can I put through the business?”

If you’ve asked any of these, you’re exactly who we’re here for…

No jargon.

No judgment.

Just clear, honest answers.

🚗 Mileage is one of the most commonly missed tax deductions — and it could be costing you money!

If you’re a consultant, freelancer, or service-based founder, listen up. 👇

Most people assume: “If I didn’t keep fuel receipts, I can’t claim it.”

❌ That’s a myth!

HMRC approved mileage rates exist for exactly this reason.

Still think this doesn’t apply to you? Think again… 👇

From 6 April 2026, Making Tax Digital (MTD) starts for:
✔ Self-employed individuals
✔ Landlords
✔ Earning over £50,000

Then from April 2027 → threshold drops to £30,000
Here’s what changes:
📊 Quarterly updates (instead of one yearly rush)
📊 Digital record keeping (no more spreadsheets only)
📊 MTD-compatible software required
📊 Final declaration at year-end

🚫 What’s NOT included:
• PAYE-only employees
• Income below threshold
• Some exemptions (age, disability, etc.)

⚠️ And yes… penalties are changing too
Miss deadlines = points = £££
💡 Reality check:
This isn’t just “more admin”
It’s HMRC moving everything digital — and fast.
If you’re not ready, you’ll struggle.
If you are ready, you stay in control 💼

🚨 BIG CHANGE: The £100 late filing fine is being SCRAPPED

From 6 April 2026, HMRC is replacing the automatic £100 penalty for late Self Assessment submissions with a new point-based penalty system — similar to driving licence penalty points.

Here is how it works:

🔴 Miss a submission deadline → You receive 1 penalty point
🔴 Reach 4 points → You receive a £200 fine
🔴 Every further missed deadline after that → Another £200 fine

The key difference from the old system:
Under the old rules, ONE missed deadline = £100 fine. Immediately.
Under the new system, you have a buffer before financial penalties kick in.

This is designed to protect people who make a genuine one-off mistake — while still penalising persistent non-compliance.

👇 Tomorrow: How long do penalty points stay on your record?

📋 WHO does MTD for Income Tax apply to?

You are in scope if ALL of the following apply:

👤 You are a sole trader or landlord
📝 You are registered for Self Assessment
💷 Your qualifying income exceeds £50,000 (from the 2024–25 tax year)

What counts as “qualifying income”?

It is the combined gross income from:

⚠️ It is your GROSS income — not profit — that counts.

The rollout phases:
📅 From 6 April 2026 → Income over £50,000
📅 From 6 April 2027 → Income over £30,000
📅 From 6 April 2028 → Income over £20,000
