Happy birthday to me! Yes my birthday is 10 days before the self-assessment deadline. I'm still taking the day off. Who wants to work on their birthday?

I'm 44 and feeling good about this age. What a great number!

Lovely day planned, hair done, home to potter about before lunch and theatre with my mum.

I'll be back to work tomorrow at focus day, making sure all our clients have their self-assessments filed on time.

We're ending 2025 in Keswick, our favourite place to come and relax as a family.

It's been quite a challenging year and I'll be glad to start afresh in 2026.

We've had health issues (me) and transition to secondary school (Dom) to contend with but we've reached the end of the year happy and healthy.

CBC is growing and supporting more clients than ever before and we have a great team with a plan for even more customer focus in 2026.

We'd love more of you to make use of what's on offer to support you with getting to know your numbers better in 2026.

Every 3rd Friday we offer "Finance Friday", one hour 11-12 online via Teams (we're moving away from Zoom). Come along to work on your own finances and ask any questions that crop up while you're doing it.

Every other month, we offer FreeAgent training online to help you get the most out of the software. This is delivered by our FreeAgent account manager and the team will be there to answer any questions too.

Check out the calendar on our website to see what's coming up and when.

In the months when we're not offering FreeAgent training, we'll be providing online training on another important topic for clients (MTD for Income tax, cash management, government gateway, understanding your accounts etc).

We have a big project on the go for 2026. We want you all to have access to your GG account. Come along on the 4th Friday of each month.

We'll send a monthly newsletter at the beginning of every month to let you know whats happening.

We also send a quarterly newsletter each season with tips and a client focus as well as updates on what we've been up to as a team.

We’re on a mission to promote the CBC client portal.

If you are a CBC client, did you know these 5 important things about the CBC portal?

1. You can sign in directly from the CBC website, simply click on the “Client portal login” button.

2. On the CBC portal in the “documents” section, you will find all the documents that you need for a mortgage application. One of our FAQs is from clients who are buying a house, their bank or mortgage advisors usually ask for SA302s and TYOs, as well as company accounts, if you are trading through a Limited Company.

What is the SA302? It is simply the self-assessment tax calculation.

What is a TYO? This is a tax year overview. It is an official document from HMRC that provides a summary of your final tax position for a specific tax year. It is generated after you have submitted your Self Assessment tax return online. The primary purpose of the TYO is to confirm that your tax return has been processed and that you have paid your tax bill on time.

We upload these documents to the CBC client portal once HMRC have processed the filed return.

3. All clients should be uploading your ID to the CBC portal when you first start to work with us (or when there are any name or address changes).

4. We will always upload accounts and tax returns to the CBC client portal for you to sign so that we can submit them for you. We will never submit before you have signed.

5. All of your important tax numbers (UTRs, VAT and PAYE numbers etc) are saved in the CBC client portal in the client information section.
