E-invoicing is coming to the UK. Most small businesses haven't heard of it.

The mandates are being lined up. The compliance work behind it is going to land on accountants and bookkeepers, not on the businesses themselves. At least at first.

Here's what we'd tell you if you ran a small business right now.

This isn't about new software you have to buy in a panic. It's about your books being clean enough that when the rules switch on, you're not the one scrambling.

The firms that started moving clients onto proper digital invoicing two years ago are sitting comfortably. The ones that didn't are about to have a very awkward six months.

If your accountant hasn't mentioned it yet, that's a conversation to have on asap.

Not a sales pitch. Just a heads up from someone who watches these changes for a living.

HMRC is sending more self-assessment warnings than we've seen in years.

The letters are landing.
The enforcement activity is stepping up.

The narrative from above is "we're getting serious."

We've had four conversations this week with people who thought they could keep ignoring the brown envelope.

Here's the honest truth, from a company who deals with these every week.

HMRC is not your friend. It's also not your enemy.
It's a system.
And the system has just been given sharper teeth.

If you've got an old debt you've been kicking down the road, the road just got shorter.

If you've been late with returns for two years in a row, the patience well is running dry.

If you've got a side hustle bringing in cash you've forgotten to declare, please. For the love of god. Get ahead of it before they catch up to you.

The cost of getting in front of this is always smaller than the cost of waiting.

Every single time.

I've never once had a client say "I wish I'd left it longer." Open the envelope.

You’ll be one of the first voices our clients hear.

The person keeping the wheels turning.
The calm in the inbox storm.
The organiser, the problem-solver, the professional plate-spinner who makes sure nothing gets missed and no client feels forgotten.

This is a client-facing role for someone who is polished, proactive and seriously on the ball.

You’ll be managing client communications, onboarding new clients, keeping records accurate, supporting internal teams, handling sensitive information and helping create the kind of client experience people remember for the right reasons.

We’re looking for someone with experience in a professional services environment — ideally accountancy, legal, financial services or another regulated sector.

Someone who loves detail.
Takes pride in doing things properly.
Can manage multiple priorities without flapping.

And understands that great client service is not just about being helpful — it’s about being dependable.
