If you’re between 18 and 40 years old, a Lifetime ISA (LISA) gives you a free 25% bonus on savings up to Ā£4,000 pa if used for a house deposit, but you must hold it for 12 months.

It’s a great way to save for your first home.

Alternatively, you could look to use NS&I Premium Bonds or a high-interest account.

With everything costing so much more, budgets are being squeezed. 😫

Review what you spend, set yourself a budget and ask yourself what you can reduce or cut out even if it’s temporarily, to help free up money to save.

HALF of us are spending ALL the money we earn every month! 😮

And high earners on £90,000 a year are just as likely to blow their entire salary as those on £9,000, previous research shows.

So how can you ensure that you put something aside for a rainy day?

Here's my top tips on how to be a savvy saver...

Today is The Money Plan’s 8th year anniversary since it was published on 25th April 2018. 🄳

Eight years on, the principles remain as relevant as ever, which is why the book is still selling strongly today, helping many people who want practical advice for their finances.

My book has also been recognised nationally in the press and on TV, with journalists consistently drawn to the practical systems inside:
šŸ‘‰ The Bank Account System
šŸ‘‰ Snowball Debt
šŸ‘‰ The Pocket Money System

At the heart of it is a 5 step process that I’ve used for clients for over three decades.
This framework isn’t a theory neither. It’s been proven in the trenches, across markets, recessions and real lives.

And now, for those who want hands on support, I’ve gone one step further at my Financial Planning practice, Lexington Wealth, with Money Plan clinics, helping people apply the plan to their own money with clarity and confidence.

šŸŽ™ļø A special episode of The Finance Geeks Podcast with The Personal Finance Society.

Paul and I recently recorded a live session where we shared some of the lessons, habits and thinking that have made our Financial Planning journeys.

We talk about what really drives long-term success, how to find balance, and what it takes to build a financial planning business that’s both rewarding and sustainable.

If you’re a financial planner or you're interested in the profession, it's worth a watch.

At any age, life can change in an instant - an accident, an illness, something unexpected. A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is about making sure someone you trust can step in if needed.

There are two types:
1ļøāƒ£ Health and welfare – covering decisions about your care and medical treatment
2ļøāƒ£ Property and financial affairs – allowing someone to manage your money and finances (and this can be used while you still have capacity, if you choose)

Think of it as part of your financial foundations. If life throws something your way, having the right structure in place can make all the difference.

Once completed, your LPA needs to be registered with the Office of the Public Guardian before it can be used.

It’s not something we like to think about, but it’s one of the most important things you can put in place.

If you have any questions about LPAs, feel free to get in touch.

I am a stay-at-home parent, and I was told I could start a pension, is that right? šŸ¤”

Yes, and if you can afford it, you should.
If you have no earnings, you can pay up to £2,880 per year into a pension and get a 25% tax bonus, up to £720.

Even a newborn child can invest into a pension.

Through The Money Plan Talk, I help organisations give their teams practical tools to take control of their money, reduce financial stress, and build a more secure future.

These sessions are engaging, practical, and tailored to the audience, whether that’s a workplace wellbeing programme, a school, or a professional event.

If your organisation would benefit from helping employees feel more confident with their finances, I’d love to speak to you.

Most people spend years working toward financial freedom.

But very few ever stop to ask:
šŸ’¬ā€œWhat comes after I get there?ā€

In this week’s episode of The Finance Geeks (Season 4, Episode 2), Paul and I dive into a conversation that more of us need to have, both personally and professionally:

What happens beyond financial freedom? šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

What happens when you’ve trained for years, crossed the finish line of financial freedom… and realise the road keeps going? In this episode of The Finance Gee...

ā¤ļø Love, money & understanding each other...

Valentine’s Day is a good reminder that relationships are built on understanding, not just romance.

šŸ’· Money can mean very different things to different people. For one person, it represents financial freedom and security. For another, it represents generosity, enjoyment and showing love.

It's important to know that neither is right or wrong.

The issues arise when we assume our partner sees money the same way we do.

We shouldn't be trying to change each other’s values. We need to recognise them and put a simple structure in place that allows both of you to win. A plan that protects your future and allows you to enjoy today.

When couples align their money with their shared goals, something powerful happens... šŸ‘‰ less conflict and a stronger partnership.

This Valentine’s, perhaps the most romantic thing you can do is understand what money really means to the person you love. ā¤ļø
