Wheelchair basketball has had a standout year, with Team England Women taking gold and Team England Men taking silver at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Proof of what sport can do when the right opportunities are there.
Which is exactly why we're delighted to share that the Chesterton House Foundation has awarded a £1,000 grant to Leicester Cobras Wheelchair Basketball Club.
Set up in 1992, Leicester Cobras is a longstanding sports charity based in Leicester city centre, offering wheelchair basketball to adults and young people aged 14 and over. The club welcomes people of all abilities, genders and backgrounds, with weekly training, the chance to compete in the British Wheelchair Basketball National League and Women's League, and plenty of social opportunities too.
Like many local sports organisations, Leicester Cobras faces rising running costs and league fees. The grant will help cover these essential costs, keeping sessions accessible and affordable for everyone who takes part.
