1.Who needs to follow MTD (from April 2026) in Uk ?

Self-employed individuals and landlords with total annual income over £50,000 must keep digital records and submit updates using MTD-compatible software.

This includes income from self-employment and property (if applicable).

The £50,000 threshold refers to gross income, not profit.
Who follows next:

From April 2027, it will extend to those earning more than £30,000.

What MTD requires:

-Maintain digital records

-Submit quarterly updates to HMRC (instead of one annual return).

-Then send a Final Declaration (like the current tax return) at year-end.

3.If you earn below £30,000:

You’re not yet required to join MTD, but you can voluntarily opt in.
