📢 Important Update for EU Settlement Scheme Applicants!

Today, 24 June 2025, the UK Home Office announced changes to the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS). Here are the key points:

✅ New, simplified rule for absences:
You can now qualify for Settled Status if you can prove you were physically present in the UK for at least 30 months out of the last 60 months. It doesn’t matter which specific months – what matters is accumulating 2.5 years of presence over the past 5 years.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: If you were absent from the UK for more than 2 consecutive years before May 2024, this still results in the loss of your status. Do not believe misleading social media claims that all absences are now forgiven – this is not true.

🔍 Could this mean you can apply for Settled Status even if you weren’t in the UK before 31 Dec 2020?
The new wording (“last 60 months”) might open that possibility in the future, but this is not yet confirmed. For now, any such interpretations remain speculative.

🔔 Summary:
The only confirmed change so far is the way absences are calculated. For all other matters, we must wait for the official update to the EUSS guidance.

Днес, 24 юни 2025 г., Министерството на вътрешните работи на Обединеното кралство обяви промени по схемата EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS). Ето най-същественото:

✅ Ново и улеснено правило за отсъствията:
Вече е достатъчно да сте били физически във Великобритания поне 30 месеца от последните 60 месеца, за да кандидатствате за Settled Status. Няма значение кои точно месеци – важно е да съберете общо 2 години и половина присъствие за последните 5 години.

⚠️ ВАЖНО: Ако сте били извън UK повече от 2 последователни години преди май 2024 г., няма промяна – все още губите статута си. Не вярвайте на подвеждащи твърдения в интернет, че всички отсъствия вече се "прощават" – това не е вярно.

🔍 Има ли шанс за Settled Status, дори и без да сте били в UK преди 31.12.2020?
Формулировката "последните 60 месеца" отваря такава възможност, но това не е официално потвърдено. Очакваме допълнителни указания.

🔔 Обобщение:

📢 Important Update on Benefit Eligibility Verification 📢

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed a new Eligibility Verification Measure (EVM), which will impact three benefits:

✔ Universal Credit
✔ Pension Credit
✔ Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)

🔹 What does this mean?
EVM will use bank and financial institution information to help verify eligibility for these benefits. This system is designed to improve accuracy in assessing new claims.

🔹 Who does this affect?
This verification process will ONLY apply to new claims and registrations. If you are already receiving benefits, this will not impact you at this stage.

💡 Stay informed and ensure your financial records are up to date when applying for benefits.
