Remote working from abroad may feel simple: same employer, same laptop, same salary, different country.
But from a tax perspective, location matters.
If you work physically from another jurisdiction, even temporarily, you may create personal tax residence issues, employment income exposure, payroll complications, social security questions, and — for directors, founders and senior employees — even a Permanent Establishment risk for the employer.
The 183-day rule is often misunderstood. It is not a universal exemption.
Before working remotely from abroad, or allowing employees to do so, the position should be reviewed properly.
