About the University of Haifa
The University of Haifa occupies a unique and vital place within Israel’s higher education landscape. Often referred to as “the university of the North,” it distinguishes itself not only by its geography and academic excellence but by its unwavering commitment to diversity, inclusion, and social mobility. No other university in Israel so closely mirrors the complexity of Israeli society: Jews, Muslims, Christians, Druze, ultra-Orthodox and secular students, as well as military and security personnel, all come together on our campus to study, teach and learn.
This diversity is not only a point of distinction - it is a source of resilience, creativity and shared progress. By embedding coexistence and mutual respect into its institutional fabric, the University of Haifa serves as a national model for how pluralism and academic excellence can go hand in hand.
This year, it launched Israel’s newest School of Medicine; a groundbreaking development for the University and a much-needed source of new medics for the North. Also this year, it launched its flagship campaign ‘Home Again’; harnessing the power of science and research to rebuild northern Israel.
The University has gained an international reputation in a variety of fields, including public health, security studies, holocaust research, cancer research, neurosciences, bioinformatics, marine sciences, education and epigenetics.
