What is your Desktop background?

One of my favourite things about Microsoft, is having their featured picture of the day as my background - every day I get a beautiful landscape to get lost in (maybe not ideal when I'm trying to focus on work!)

Today's stunning location is Old Man Storr in the Isle of Skye which I've been very fortunate to visit - a breath taking rock formation that looks like nature’s way of giving business owners a warning: If you don’t plan ahead, you’re in for a tough climb!

Did you know that Bookkeepers and Accountants are just like pancakes?

Not only are we FLIPPING amazing; we are very versatile...

The problem is, many Business Owners think pancakes (bookkeepers and accountants) just come as your standard lemon and sugar pancake (the type that just keeps HMRC at bay) .I suppose tax returns can be bitter like lemon at times right?!

We need to open business owners minds however to show them that there are pancakes (bookkeepers and accountants) out there who can not only blow their mind (in a good way!) but will literally transform their lives (both personally and that of the business!)

Every business is unique and so each business owner needs to find a bookkeeper / accountant who is the best pancake mix to support their business; and can add the perfect toppings to empower them to grow and transform their business.

So, fellow bookkeepers and accountants, go out there and show the world how flipping amazing you are and explain to business owners why you are the perfect pancake mixture and topping for them!!

What's your favourite thing about running your own business?

For me, it most definitely is the flexibility to be able to choose your own working hours.

On the rare occasion the sun is shining, it means we can take advantage for the split second the sun treats the UK, like we did on Friday (although not quite sure 8pm Laura was quite so thankful when I was catching up in the evening!).

When we are feeling unproductive, we can refill our cup by taking an impromptu break and heading out for lunch and a mooch to a book store like we did on Wednesday.

The flexibility means we can take time off for appointments without asking permission or to care for family when needed, such as treating them to Fish and Chips for lunch like we did on Thursday.

Best of all, it means we don't have to work traditional working patterns. Instead we can have a regular mid-week date day when places are much quieter and more chilled (although, we have unfortunately let those slip a bit this year but made up for it with lots of little special moments throughout the week instead), and work the weekend when everywhere is much busier (although sometimes brunch calls instead like today 🤤)

There are of course downsides, especially when you work from home, such as having unsupervised access to all the snacks - which it appears I've been taking advantage of too much based on this picture... 🙊🤣

2024 has been a year full of adventures, fun times and hugs - Google Photos couldn't have summed it up better - although it has missed some of the most magical moments of 2024 which I believe will stay with us a lifetime! 🥰

2025 is set to be an absolutely epic year, but for now, it's time to rest ready for what 2025 is going to bring; but firstly wanted to wish each and every one of my friends and family the most wonderful new year!

Hope you have lots of happy memories to reflect on from 2024, and have an even more exciting 2025 lined up!
