Who else was actually pleased to see the rain this morning? ☔

After such a long dry spell, it makes a change to welcome something we would normally complain about and take for granted.

It also gave the Arkk umbrellas their moment in the spotlight!

Come rain or shine, the Arkk team are always ready for the day ahead. 💚

The team headed to Jaguar Land Rover for a team day.

The purpose was for the whole team to experience excellence from a different perspective. As we continue to challenge ourselves at The Arkk Alliance to deliver the very best experience for our clients, we wanted to see what that looks like in an organisation that’s recognised around the world for its excellence, innovation and attention to detail.

Of course, it was also a great opportunity to celebrate everything that’s happened over the last year, spend quality time together, test our mettle driving off-road and look ahead at what’s next for The Arkk Alliance.

When you’re busy looking after clients every day, it’s easy to keep moving from one thing to the next without stopping to recognise just how much has been achieved. Taking a day out gave us the chance to do exactly that, while reinforcing what matters most as we continue to grow.

One thing we’re really proud of is the team we’ve got. People who genuinely care about each other, care about our clients and are always looking for ways to raise the bar.

Thanks to Jaguar Land Rover for having us, and thanks to everyone who made the day what it was.

Meet Nicola, the person leading our Outsourcing Team here at The Arkk Alliance 👋

If you’ve ever wondered what 'outsourcing' actually means, Nicola explains it pretty simply… Her team becomes a finance department for businesses that need ongoing support, without the cost of employing a full in-house team. Every client is different, so the support is too.

A big part of Nicola’s week is helping clients solve problems, preparing management information that supports better business decisions, making sure important deadlines are met, supporting the team and keeping everything moving behind the scenes.

We asked Nicola what clients don’t always see behind the scenes, and her answer summed up The Arkk Alliance perfectly. “The team often goes above and beyond to help our clients. We genuinely care about their businesses and want to do what we can to make things easier."

It’s a mindset we all share as a team. It isn’t just about the numbers. It’s about the people behind them.

One thing Nicola is especially proud of is watching our trainees grow. Sharing her experience, helping build confidence and seeing people develop in their careers is something she genuinely loves.

Outside of work, you’ll usually find Nicola spending time with Delia, the family’s much-loved pony (and, in Nicola’s words, her biggest fur baby 🐴). Oh… and there’s also a disco ball in her kitchen because apparently cooking dinner is much better with a little boogie. We can’t really argue with that. 🪩💃

We’re really fortunate to have Nicola leading such an important part of The Arkk Alliance 💚

Meet Zak, our Head of Resourcing & Compliance at The Arkk Alliance 👋

Zak's role is all about helping smaller businesses stay on top of their finances. From bookkeeping and statutory accounts to ongoing financial support, his team works closely with clients to keep everything running smoothly and give business owners the information they need throughout the year, not just at year end.

There’s rarely such a thing as a “normal” day in the Resourcing & Compliance team, but that’s exactly how they like it. Every business is different, so every day brings something new.

What Zak enjoys most is getting to know clients and really understanding what drives them. The goal isn’t just producing numbers, it’s helping business owners make better decisions and feeling like part of their team.

When we asked what makes The Arkk Alliance different, his answer was simple: “It’s people centric. Both client and team focused.”

Outside of work you’ll probably find Zak attempting a round of golf, playing padel, out for a run (he recently completed the London Marathon 🏅) or, more realistically, enjoying a pint with friends. 🍻

One final thing… Zak casually mentioned that he technically holds a world record. 🤯
But… he refused to tell us what it is. So we’ll let you have a guess in the comments… 👀

Really proud to have Zak as part of The Arkk Alliance team 💚

This week we said a fond farewell to Louis whose placement year with us has come to an end!

Over the past year, he’s become a real part of the team and it’s been brilliant watching his confidence grow along the way.

Louis is off to do a bit of travelling over the summer before heading back to the University of Warwick to complete the final year of his Engineering degree. 🌍✈️

Louis, thank you for everything you’ve brought to the team this year. We hope you have an amazing summer, and we wish you every success for your final year at university. We’re really glad The Arkk Alliance got to be part of the journey.

Lots of love from all The Arkk Alliance team 💚

What could an Andy Burnham premiership mean for UK tax? It’s a question I’ve been asked a few times over the last couple of weeks.

With speculation building around Andy Burnham’s political future, there has been no shortage of headlines, opinions and predictions. While nobody knows exactly what the future holds 🔮 (perhaps not even Andy himself), it doesn’t mean we can’t take a step back and consider what some of the possibilities might be.

As a tax adviser, part of my role is looking beyond today’s headlines and considering what future policy could mean for our clients. Not because I’m trying to predict the next Budget, but because understanding the possibilities can help shape better conversations and, ultimately, better long-term planning.

I’ve pulled together a few thoughts on the areas I’d be watching most closely if Andy Burnham were ever to become Prime Minister, including:

🟢 Capital Gains Tax
🟢 Property taxation
🟢 Landlords and rental income
🟢 Inheritance Tax
🟢 Income Tax allowances
🟢 Business rates

Whether any of these ideas ever become reality remains to be seen. My hope is simply that the article helps you think about your own position and reinforces the value of reviewing your plans before change arrives, rather than after it does.

I’d be interested to hear your thoughts. Read the full article here 👉 https://thearkk.co.uk/resource/andy-burnham-tax/

One of the challenges with P11Ds isn’t completing the forms - it’s remembering everything that might need to be included! 🤯

Company cars are the obvious one, but over the course of a year we know how easy it is for smaller benefits and expenses to slip under the radar. Things like:

🚗 Company cars and vans
🏥 Private medical insurance
💰 Director loan accounts
🎁 Staff benefits
🔁 Salary sacrifice arrangements
🎉 Staff events and entertainment

To help make life a little easier, Melissa from our Payroll team has put together a practical P11D checklist for employers preparing their submissions over the coming weeks. Hopefully the list helps you put the "what have I forgotten?" question to bed.

Get the full checklist with all the detail here 👉 thearkk.co.uk/resource/p11d-checklist

And if you would like some support with your P11D, Melissa and our Payroll team are always happy to help.

Preparing your P11D for 2025/26? Use our practical employer checklist to make sure you’ve gathered everything you need before the 6 July HMRC deadline.

If your business provides benefits-in-kind such as company cars, private medical insurance or other employee benefits, P11D season is now well underway and the 6 July submission deadline is just around the corner.

If you’re a business owner, employer or company director and haven’t quite got your head into P11D mode yet, you’re definitely not alone. You may have had a million other things to think about, or perhaps P11Ds have simply slipped your mind.

To give you a helping hand, Melissa from our Payroll team has pulled together the key dates for the 2025/26 P11D reporting period, including submission deadlines and Class 1A National Insurance payment dates.

Hopefully this timeline helps keep everything on track over the next few weeks.

And if you’ve been burying your head in the P11D sand, don’t worry, but we’d certainly encourage you to take action. We know there can be plenty of questions around benefits and year-end reporting, so if you’d value a bit of support, Melissa and the team are always happy to help.

Big changes are coming for UK small businesses, but there’s an important detail you may have missed.

From April 2028, small companies and micro entities will be required to file a Profit & Loss account with Companies House for the first time.

For many business owners, that headline alone has been enough to raise alarm. The idea of competitors, customers or suppliers gaining a window into your profitability is understandably uncomfortable.

But here’s what’s getting lost in the noise.

Whilst filing will become mandatory, businesses will be able to opt out of having that information published on the public register. Companies House and HMRC will have access, but it won’t automatically be visible to anyone who searches for your company.

It’s a distinction worth understanding before drawing conclusions.

The wider reforms also include:

🟢 The abolition of abridged accounts
🟢 A mandatory move to digital filing through commercial software
🟢 Additional information requirements for both small companies and micro entities

Who does this affect?

A small company broadly meets two or more of:

→ Turnover of £15m or less
→ Balance sheet total of £7.5m or less
→ 50 or fewer employees

A micro entity broadly meets two or more of:

→ Turnover of £1m or less
→ Balance sheet total of £500k or less
→ 10 or fewer employees

April 2028 might feel distant, but the direction of travel is clear. More digital reporting, greater regulatory visibility, and a sharper focus on the quality of information being submitted.

If you’d like to talk through what these changes mean for your business specifically, get in touch with us and we’ll be happy to help.
