A huge moment for our city and an incredible event to look forward to! 🚲 🏁

Big news: the Tour de France Grand Départ is coming to the Lancaster district in July 2027! 🚴‍♂️✨

Stage two (Keswick → Liverpool) of the world’s greatest cycle race will power through Carnforth, Morecambe and Lancaster - a landmark moment that will put us firmly on the global stage.

Hosting part of the Grand Départ route is an extraordinary opportunity for our area - thousands of visitors, a boost for local businesses, and a significant lift for hospitality and tourism.

This is a once in a generation moment that will bring huge media coverage to put us on the world stage.

Many first-time buyers assume they need 20% saved... but in reality, it’s often possible to buy with just a 5% deposit.

On a £200,000 property, that’s £10,000.

There are also ways to help your savings go further, such as a Lifetime ISA, which adds a 25% government bonus (yes, free money 🙌).

While higher deposits can unlock more options, having less doesn’t mean you’re out of the running.

𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲

The Bank of England has today cut the base rate by 0.25% to 3.75%.

This is welcome news for mortgage borrowers, although the move was widely anticipated and already reflected in current mortgage rates.

❓ 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲?

Mortgage economists are currently expecting one or two further 0.25% reductions, with the base rate continuing to edge lower.

While this is positive for borrowers, unfortunately savers are likely to see returns and interest rates fall as we move through 2026.
