📅 Making Tax Digital deadline: 7 August 2026

The first quarterly update under Making Tax Digital for Income Tax is due by Friday 7 August 2026.

This deadline applies to sole traders and landlords who have been required to use MTD for Income Tax since 6 April 2026, generally those with combined qualifying income from self-employment and property of more than £50,000.

The update is a summary of your income and expenses for each self-employment or property business. It must be submitted to HMRC using compatible software. It is not a full tax return, but it is an important part of the new reporting process.

✅ Check that your digital records are up to date
✅ Make sure your software is connected to HMRC
✅ Submit your quarterly update by 7 August
