10 months ago I decided to build up my Accountancy practice.
With an incredible set of circumstances, I reached my 12 month target in 3 months. 🫣😁
Then it was 7 months of overwhelm, joy, hard work, panic, some testing situations, welcoming awesome new clients and sometimes walking through quicksand. 😁😁😁

But, I got to the end of January with so much pride, a little frayed nervous system and just simply, a huge amount of utter gratitude. ❤️🙏

From amazing clients, my friend and colleague Sabrina Lake who made soup, helped me navigate it all by listening to my many ramblings and stuck at it with me, all while dealing with her own challenges, what a star. 😁😁😁. Family and words of support.

I am so so grateful for everything. Proud and content. ❤️❤️

I am not going to build the practice up too much now, I have a target which allows for time. Time for me, time for my clients and a more relaxing year.
I don't chase money, I work towards balance and a strong business.

Being too busy, phah, I will leave that behind.
Time is so much more precious.

Welcome Sabrina Lake to Kelly Accountancy.

Sabrina has been an amazing friend throughout the years and for the past month, we have been chatting, trialing whether we can work well together, whether we both want to be working together. And we do. 🩷

So chuffed.
Sabrina is coming onboard to do admin and book keeping, and we shall see where the growing practice takes us.

Keeping the best relationships between us and clients, honesty, hard work, giggles, cake, connection, friendship.

That's what it's about.

Not money.

All set up to welcome my first ever employee next month who is going to be stepping in to do admin and book keeping. 🎊🎊

Worked my little socks off for this. 😁😁. Really grateful for everyone's support and pretty flippin chuffed. I just want to hug everyone. 😂😂

One thing I really like about working with small businesses is when clients pop into the office to go through accounts or tax returns, have a coffee and a good natter.

It's all about the connections, honest conversations and a few giggles.

A massive THANK YOU to everyone who has supported me, recommended me and well, just been completely awesome.

My Accountancy Practice is growing. 🩷🩷
I have a limit of clients to take on because my Practice is about GOOD service, not how big it gets.

I have nearly reached that target in 3 months. My goal is 6 months. Just incredible. 🙏

But thank you so much to everyone who has supported me. It really does mean so much.

I have a bit of capacity left if anyone is looking for a new Accountant.

This week, I have had some lovely conversations, some proper giggles and chats that have lasted half an hour, from prospective and new clients.

Normal and real conversations, real connections, mutual respect and honesty, is what we are all needing right now.

No matter what business you are in, there is either the personable way or the money way. People or profits.

Yes, a business needs to make money, that is the whole point. But it does not need to gravitate towards being unfair.

We certainly do not need to be cut throat to build a good business and a successful business is not just about money.

Its about people. Always about the people.

There is currently a wave of false companies being set up, who use National Insurance numbers to create fake payrolls.

If you receive an email from HMRC to say that your tax code has changed, it is worth visiting your online HMRC account and look at your tax code.

If you have an employer on your online HMRC account that you do not recognise, please contact HMRC on 0300 200 3300 and they will remove the fake employer.

These fake employers will tell HMRC that they have paid you.

This is then used for money laundering purposes as they can put through the 'salary' through their books.

Of course, this pretend employment income will also count as income on your account and you may get taxed on this (if you are self employed for example).
