Missed the Making Tax Digital deadline? It’s not too late.
HMRC expected around 864,000 taxpayers to come into Making Tax Digital for Income Tax from April.
Around 570,000 have signed up, but only 436,000 have made submissions so far.
HMRC has now announced that, from September, it will start signing up taxpayers who should have joined MTD in April but haven’t yet registered.
If that’s you, don’t panic — but don’t ignore it either.
There is still an opportunity to get everything set up properly, understand what you need to do and get your records into suitable software before this becomes a bigger headache than it needs to be.
At AHBS, we know that moving to digital record keeping and quarterly submissions can feel like a big change, particularly if you’ve always dealt with your accounts once a year.
You don’t need to figure it all out on your own.
We can help you understand what MTD means for you, get the right systems in place and support you through the change.
If you think you should have joined MTD in April but haven’t done anything yet, get in touch. It’s still not too late to get back on track.
