A group from the Simpson Wood team headed on over to The Kirkwood yesterday to help out with processing the charity's Gift Aid claims.

While much of the support we provide as a business involves taking part in activities that add to fundraising, it was rewarding to contribute directly to work that helps maximise the value of donations and supports the vital services The Kirkwood provides across our community.

We're looking forward to continuing to support this super organisation in a variety of ways.

At the weekend, the team at Simpson Wood supported our partner charity, The Kirkwood in their annual Starlight Walk.

More than 800 people from across the region walked 3, 6 or 10 miles in Huddersfield to help raise funds to support people affected by life-limiting illnesses, as well as to provide vital care for their families.

Starting at 10pm, the event that sees many participants dress up, sing, dance and perform their way across their chosen distance, got underway with a great atmosphere, and it's fair to say the event was huge fun whilst also being moving for many people who have had first hand experience of the incredible service and support The Kirkwood provides.

Our team was there to offer moral support, taking part in the festivities and manning the water station to help keep participants hydrated.

It was a pleasure to welcome Jane Dawson from Ella Dawson Foundation back into our offices last week, to present us with a framed work of art made by Ella.

Jane very generously presented this beautiful piece to us in recognition of the two years we worked with the Foundation as our charity partners.

We raised £10,000 for the Foundation over the two years we worked with them and we continue to wish them all the best in the amazing work they do.

Thank you, Jane, for your generosity with this gift. We're really touched and proud to have it hanging in our offices.

George, Tom and Davis from our team were welcomed into Huddersfield New College recently to speak to A level students about careers in accountancy and finance.

Students really enjoyed the presentation, which gave them a real insight into what working in accounting and finance is really like, and our guys left knowing they'd spread the word about how satisfying and rewarding a career in this field can be.

11 June saw the annual Simpson Wood and Oyster charity golf day.

To say it was a little damp is an understatement. However, 66 business people from across Yorkshire took part to help raise funds for The Kirkwood and Invictus Wellbeing. A good day was had by all, with £1700 raised in total, to be split between the two charities.

The winning team was Craig Stratford, Peter Jackson, Chris Patterson and Paul Brierley with a very respectable score of 92.

Just over a week ago, The Kirkwood came to collect the donations of pre-loved clothing and homeware made by our team. These items will go into The Kirkwood's shops to help raise funds for the vital support they provide to people living with life-limiting illness and their families.

It was the first activity on our list since the hospice became our charity partners. We're looking forward to lots more, very varied, activities across the next couple of years, so that we can help The Kirkwood help others.

We are so pleased that our partnership charity for the next two years is the The Kirkwood , who do an incredible job supporting people affected by life-limiting illness in the Kirklees area.

The Kirkwood was nominated by our team and we have personal experience of the amazing work they do. We've already got started in raising funds to support their work and, over the next two years, we'll be taking part in a wide range of activities to raise awareness and funds to help them deliver much-needed support when people need it the most.

We're so proud to be partnering with The Kirkwood. Stay tuned to see how we'll be supporting them!
