Pleased to see our Managing Director, Phil McGovern FPFS, featured in Citywire New Model Adviser, contributing to this piece on how leading UK advice firms select their wealth model partners.

The article explores the thinking behind different approaches, the number of providers firms choose to work with, and what ultimately drives those decisions in practice.

AI is changing how people approach big decisions, including their health and their finances.

It’s a useful tool for sense-checking, learning the basics and asking better questions. But, just like medicine, financial planning isn’t something you can automate completely. Context, experience and judgement still matter.

The strongest outcomes come when technology supports professional advice, not when it tries to replace it as we explore in our latest news story.

https://www.mpafm.co.uk/how-people-are-using-ai-for-health-its-parallels-with-financial-advice/

Over 200 million people are turning to AI for healthcare guidance each week - here's what's happening. If you've ever typed a health question into ChatGPT, you're part of a massive global shift in how people seek medical information. Recent data from OpenAI reveals something remarkable: over 40 mill...

With the current news stories and speculation around The Government’s plans to raise income through changes to inheritance tax and pensions, we are seeing increased enquiries from our clients about how they can ensure they can pass on their hard-earned money to their family.

As we have discussed previously, unspent private pension pots are due to be brought into IHT, and there may also be changes regarding limits on lifetime gifting to further widen the IHT net.

Changes are coming, and it is important to begin planning now to ensure that you can support your family both whilst you are alive, and in the event of your death.

Gifting money to family is an effective way to reduce your IHT liability and it means that you can support family members whilst you are here and at important times in their lives, such as when they need to buy a house or are getting married.

The good news is that there are a number of allowances and exemptions which make gifting possible without creating an unnecessary tax burden. But there are also pitfalls to be aware of.

Our latest article below explores how you can gift to your family tax efficiently. If you would like further advice please get in touch.

We’re pleased to share that 'MPA 2', made up of James Guest, Joe McGovern, Rob Chapman and Christopher Pedel, took first place at the 15th Midland Golf Open held at Moseley Golf Club.

The team, one of two MPA teams in the event, finished an impressive 14 under par, topping a strong field of 20 teams from across the financial services sector.

Our thanks to Richard Turner DipPFS of JO Hambro for organising another excellent event, which also raised over £700 for Birmingham Dogs Home - a cause close to his heart.

A great day of golf, good company and support for a worthy charity!

After an outstanding career in financial services, we’re bidding a fond farewell to our colleague Ann Baguley, who has officially retired following nine years with MPA Financial Management.

Ann has been a hugely valued member of our team, not only for the expert, compassionate advice she has provided to clients over the years, but also for the support and mentorship she has given to colleagues across the business.

Ann has specialised in retirement planning, intergenerational wealth transfer, investment advice, and care fees planning. She has made a real difference to individuals, families, solicitors, trustees and deputies seeking trusted financial guidance, particularly in later life and during life-changing moments such as divorce or bereavement.

We know many clients and peers have come to rely on Ann's knowledge, integrity and warmth. While we’re sad to see her go, we’re incredibly grateful for everything she has contributed to MPA.

Please join us in wishing Ann a very happy and well-deserved retirement.
