Company Director? Are you aware of the changes?

From 18 November 2025, all company directors (and people with significant control, or PSCs) will have to verify their identity with Companies House

Here’s what you need to know 👇

âś… Who needs to do this?
• New directors (from 18 Nov 2025 onwards)
• Existing directors
• PSCs
• Anyone filing information on behalf of a company

âś… How will it happen?
• A simple online check: your passport or driving licence + a selfie/video check 📸
• Or, if you’d rather not do it yourself, your accountant or agent (if they’re an authorised provider) can handle it

âś… When does this matter?
• New directors: must verify before appointment or company incorporation after 18 Nov 2025
• Existing directors: you’ll need to verify when your next confirmation statement is filed in the 12-month transition period
• PSCs: will also have deadlines tied to either the confirmation statement or birth month, depending on if they’re also a director or not

⚠️ Why this matters
• After 18 Nov 2025, you can’t legally act as a director unless your identity is verified
• Filings by or about unverified directors may be rejected
• Penalties, fines, or even disqualification could follow

👉 What you should do right now
• Check your passport or driving licence is current
• If possible, get verified before the 18 November deadline to avoid last-minute rush
• Ask your accountant or agent if they plan to be an authorised agent (so they can verify on your behalf)

Don’t get caught out!

If you want help walking through the process (step by step), drop me a message I am happy to help you get ahead of it.
