We are supporting Alzheimer’s Society’s Forget Me Not Appeal this month 💙

Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer and 1 in 3 people born in the UK today
will develop it in their lifetime.

Across the UK, thousands of people are wearing their badges – each with
their own story – coming together to beat dementia, as a society.

Join us today – donate to help spread the word to support life-changing services and ground-breaking dementia research. Together, we can create a future where dementia no longer devastates lives

You can donate to the Alzheimer's Society, our chosen charity for the next 12 months, in any of our offices or online: https://www.justgiving.com/page/ashmole-and-co-4?utm_medium=FA&utm_source=CL

In the largest ever uprating of the rates a 10p per mile increase in tax‑free mileage rates for this tax year, backdated to April 2026, has been introduced to ease the cost of living.

Increasing the tax free per mile rates from 45p for the first 10,000 miles to 55p per mile will save around £120 for a worker doing 6,000 business miles. Up to two million employees and one million self-employed people will benefit.

This is in addition to savings drivers will make from the Chancellor’s further extension to the fuel duty freeze until the end of the year. That’s the third time Rachel Reeves has frozen fuel duty to support motorists, saving them £120 since last year.

Recognising how farmers and hauliers have been particularly exposed to high fuel prices, and their importance to UK supply chains, more relief has been announced.

For farmers and others who use red diesel and rebated biodiesel, the rate for those fuels has been cut by over a third – the lowest in over two decades. For hauliers, a road tax holiday has been put in place for a year from 1 July.

State Pension age is going up from 66 to 67 years.
The change impacts both men and women, and is being phased in over two years, starting from 6 April 2026. This means that anyone born between 6 April 1960 and 5 March 1961 will reach their individual State Pension age at 66 years - and a specified number of months. A State Pension age calculator tool on GOV.UK can be used to find individual dates.

Carmarthenshire’s future mathematicians are being financially supported by Ashmole & Co.

Our Ammanford office has made a donation to Ysgol Llandybie Primary School to help with the annual purchase of the online maths resource for pupils called MyMaths.

Llandybie Primary School uses the online resource to help pupils and parents with the teaching of maths at home. The MyMaths programme allows teachers to set tasks for pupils as well as provide them with tutorials to show them the mathematical concepts being taught. It is able to assist in all areas of mathematics from shape to space, data to financial literacy.

Laura Craddock, Partner in Ashmole & Co’s Ammanford office, said, “We are always keen to offer our support locally. We are more than happy to help fund the online resource MyMaths to help train the local accountants of the future from a young age.”

Llandybie Primary School Head Teacher, Rhian Pritchard, said, “We are keen to continue using online resources to enhance our pupils’ learning experience but they come at an extra cost. We are grateful to Ashmole and Co for the donation which will enable us to continue the provision of online maths learning.”
