We now live an age where you can turn anywhere for information and advice on all manner of things and we are routinely directed to, or via, social media to different channels for further information - but is this a good thing? 🫤
Potentially yes it could be if it is a reputable source such as the NHS, but what if it is a self-proclaimed expert or entrepreneur? Do they actually have any experience in running their own business or do they "just talk the talk"?
Should you then follow any financial advice given on social media? 💡
This could be the new "my mate down the pub said...." and before you know it you can get yourself in a bit of a pickle! 😣
The below article gives you some do's and don'ts on this subject as like with anything, it is not all bad but there are some red flags to look out for.
We do always recommend getting proper, professional advice before making a big decision. Even if this based on a reputable resource as your individual circumstances could mean it is less or more favourable for you - speak to your accountant (that's what we are here for!!) or look to work with one if you don't already.
And finally - make sure you do your checks on them too!! ✔️
Not everyone realises that anyone can set up and call themselves an accountant. Do your homework and check that they are qualified. You wouldn't trust an unqualified doctor with your health would you? Don't trust someone unqualified with your money!
