📢 Autumn Budget 2025 - Key changes at a glance

Last month the Chancellor has announced a wide range of updates affecting individuals, businesses and the wider economy.

Here are some of the major headlines featured in our latest infographic:

• Income tax & NI - Thresholds frozen for three more years, with dividend and savings rates rising from 2026/27.
• Pensions - State Pension up 4.8% next April, with new NI rules for salary sacrifice from 2029.
• Minimum wage - Increasing to £12.71 per hour, with a higher rise for younger workers.
• Property & family - Mansion Tax introduced from 2028 and the two-child benefit cap abolished from 2026.
• Business measures – New 40% First Year Allowance, updated CGT relief for EOTs, and wider access to EMI schemes.
• Duties & economy - Fuel Duty frozen, new Sugar Tax items added, and inflation predicted to fall back to target by 2027.

Most people leave their Self Assessment until the last moment, which leads to missing paperwork, stressful calls to HMRC, and sleepless nights. But it doesn’t have to be that way ⏰

At Malones we always recommend filing early:

1. Avoid penalties

Deadlines are 5 October (register if new), 31 October (paper returns) and 31 January (online returns and payments). Missing them can mean instant fines. Filing early removes the risk and stress.

2. Know what you owe

File any time after 6 April 2025 to get clarity on your bill, budget properly, receive refunds sooner, or adjust payments if your income has dropped.

3. Enjoy a stress-free new year!

January’s deadline comes straight after Christmas. Filing early means no last-minute panic, faster support, and peace of mind going into the year ahead.
