This is a great illustration-

For anyone who finds tax thresholds confusing - imagine your income is a liquid in a jug. You pour it into these buckets. And the overflow goes into the bucket underneath. The big deal is these buckets will stay the same size until 2028. But (hopefully) inflation will increase your income jug. So more ends up in the lower buckets where you get taxed more. This is what fiscal drag means 😢🪣
Nb different amounts in Scotland but the idea is the same.
