✨ Yesterday I had the pleasure of delivering a 1-Day Emergency First Aid at Work course with the fantastic team at Thistle Credit Union, Blantyre.

It was a brilliant day of learning, teamwork and plenty of laughs along the way. I’m proud to say that every participant successfully completed the course leaving not only as qualified first aiders, but also confident in essential life-saving skills such as:
💡 CPR
💡 AED use
💡 Choking management
💡 Responding to seizures
…plus many more areas within the EFAW syllabus.

First aid training isn’t just about compliance it’s about building confidence to step in when it matters most.

👉 If your workplace needs to stay HSE compliant, update first aider numbers, or simply refresh existing skills, we have a course to suit you.

Always happy to have a chat (even better over a cuppa ☕)

“Save a life or get sued trying”

That was one of many comments.

From early 2026, the DVSA will be adding CPR and defibrillator (AED) questions to the UK driving theory test 🚘

The aim?

To improve survival rates from cardiac arrests. Right now, more than 40,000 people in the UK suffer an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest every year but fewer than 1 in 10 survive. By including these questions, around 2.4 million learner drivers each year will gain life-saving awareness that could make all the difference in an emergency 🫀

What’s disappointing is how much negativity I’ve seen around this news.

Comments like:

* “Another way to stop kids passing their already impossible test.”

* “Oh, I just happen to have a defibrillator in my car (not).”

* “What next, blood tests?”

* “Save a life… or get sued!”

Yes, some of the comments are flippant or cynical, but they also miss the point. This isn’t about passing or failing.

It’s about knowledge and knowledge is free, portable, and potentially life-saving.

You don’t need a defibrillator in your car to benefit from knowing how to use one if you see one in a supermarket, gym, or train station.

You don’t need to be a doctor to perform CPR that can keep someone alive until help arrives.

If even one person remembers what they learned for their theory test and saves a life, then isn’t that worth it?

We shouldn’t see this as a burden it’s a chance to give millions of people a skill that can literally mean the difference between life and death. 🚑💙
