Financial wellbeing

It is more important than ever that we look after ourselves both mentally and physically, to ensure that we are living a long and prosperous life.

Financial well-being is a term that applies to everyone. It is about feeling secure and in control of your finances both now and in the future. Consider your future, in terms of work, health and caring responsibilities will help prepare a future financial plan.

Money worries are not just about income and debt, it can be caused by a wide range of situations and factors. With some of the biggest financial challenges we face, occurring just once or twice in a lifetime, we do not always have the skills or experience to navigate through them on our own.

A few things we can all do to help our financial well-being.

• Financial health check with a regulated Financial Planner
• Downsize debt
• Use tax allowances
• Retirement plans
• Make a Will

Financial stress can affect anyone – for any number of reasons. It’s important to talk about financial wellbeing and take advantage of the support available.

Self Employed? Are you planning for your future?

I know a few of my followers are self-employed and through setting up my own business, I can fully understand the hard work and time that goes in to making it a success – and consequently, I can understand why retirement planning may fall to the bottom of your to do list.

Being self-employed means that the responsibility of sorting out your pension and future savings is left down to you. As such an important component to your future, this needs to be well researched and well invested to help provide you with the necessary reassurance.

With an uncertain income and no employer pension contributions, self-employment can make it hard to plan for retirement. But the flexibility it offers has advantages, too.

£20 BILLION.

This is the estimated figure of either lost or dormant pension pots within the UK alone. Years ago, it was common for people to leave school, start work, and remain with that employer until retirement, when they would collect their pension.

In today’s working climate, the average person will likely have six plus jobs during their working career. Which, when looking back forty years upon retirement age, you can see how easy it can be to forget where you were employed or who your pension was with.

By consolidating your pensions as you move from one job to the next, throughout your working lifetime, can have several benefits. It will allow you to keep track of and manage your savings more easily, as well as generating more investment opportunities to your current fund. This could lead to better growth in the future.

Questions to ask yourself: -
• Have I got several pension pots with different companies?
• Do I know where they are located?
• What do I know about them – how they are invested?

how can you track down your old pensions? here are some useful tips for tracking down your lost pensions.
